Not Tamiya as I have deviated from the brand for one of my projects. Don’t see many of these round these parts...

Go for a Dyna Storm!

Good idea (lovely rc buggy) but that's the problem almost everyone loves the dyna storm thus high prices and a mib is Insanely expensive:blink: ( unfortunately can't justify it )

Is it an original Optima? Will be hard to fit the wing mounts to an original from what I’ve researched so far, will look forward to what you come up with, as I have a future project along the same lines

Yep, I discovered that last night. I think I might go old-school and bend up a wing wire; I have some old screw-on attachments somewhere.

Two turned up 3 days early and theyre proper ones in boxes with instructions etc. Even a warranty code!!! These really do look waterproof. No seams gaps or anything.IMG_1411.JPG.2282df89381a88060c6fb3e0347042c2.JPGIMG_1413.JPG.63e5f36678d1630ba1319a5e28a8c2ac.JPGIMG_1414.JPG.702d1cf24574ec1ea965769fee464a79.JPG

Question is what are these plugs called as Im going to replace all my batteries plugs with these along with other controllers. So will need at least 4 for batteries and 4 for controllers. Do they come in pairs ie male and female. Are they easy to change, my soldering skills are basic to say the least. I have a 40w iron is that enough??( If this is the wrong place for this question please move)

@Busdriver XT60 connectors. Best ones are made by Amass and are XT60 Plus version with the insulating cap as fitted to your ESC (no need for heat shrink), sold in bags of five pairs:

40W iron will probably work but use a liquid rosin flux to aid solder flow.

I am inclined to think that 40w isn't enough.  I had one.  It was alright for tiny wires, but for RC wires?  It just took so much time heating up.  I had to try repeatedly.  Every time I do, the solder looks more and more like a blow fish.

Finally, I spent $15 for a 60w soldering iron set.  It made me realize that it wasn't me who didn't know how to solder, it was the iron.

A soldering iron of 60W or greater is an asset, but more importantly is using a decent 60/40 tin/lead rosin cored solder (not rubbish from China but a good brand like Multicore), a liquid rosin flux (I use MG Chemicals #835) and making sure your iron tip is hot enough (minimum 330ºC/626ºF)

I just pulled out my old 48W soldering iron and wired up an XT60 with 14awg silicon wire with no problems whatsoever in just a few minutes.:)

Don't worry though "they" say importing from America will become the norm after Brexit (they can't wait to do trade deals with us)........and we'll all get a good deal on flying pigs aswell😉

Haha - but shipping is $30 across the pond whereas it’s €10 from just over the channel - which is equitable to UK shipping

the end to free trade sucks for hobbyists and business alike :(

As I find it difficult to finish projects when it comes to painting, I thought I would try a different tack - a finished body

6328343D-6B91-486E-BF03-A3D480E14C2F.jpg

I took the plunge when a second hand chassis came up for a reasonable price with some nice goodies attached.

A fun scaler project - solid axle, linked suspension, SCX10ii gearbox.

What’s that you say? Tamiya are launching a CC-02? :o
