The "Postman Brought Me" Thread

Just further to this, I’ve bought these to go into my Black Clod, and it was the performance of them that convinced me to get them, they obviously have zero timing (compared to the genuine ones) which eliminates any potential issues that may arise from running the genuine ones (one runs in reverse). The black can look is what I was after, and for a bit under $20AUD shipped for 2, I’m happy to take the risk.

Whats the total price difference on these?

More TA07 parts.  The alloy steering arms and bridge, as well as the second set of 54931 arms.

I'm impressed with Fedex.  I ordered from RCJaz last week, got an email from them on Friday saying shipping would be delayed so do I want to wait for pay an extra NZD$13 for Fedex. Paid the extra and they confirmed recieved and said they'd ship Monday. They shipped Monday and arrived today.  I got similar service a few weeks back when I bought the RS7 chassis from RCMart, and that was only NZD$5 more than regular shipping.  I have a SkyRC TS160 on its way from RCMart which has been stuck at the border since 13 June, so thats now been about 5 weeks and still not here.

Tamiya TB03R

A rather beautiful TB03. I wasn't planning on having a 4wd anymore after deciding to race my FF03 instead of my TA06, but my TA06 wasn't even sold when this popped up and i just fancied another go with something "slightly" more conventional than the 06. Plus it shares lots of parts with the FF03. Just waiting on some boring electronics bits to get those installed so i can see how it runs.

I think you'll be very happy with it. The FF-03 and TB-03 make great stablemates, and reduce the spares count that you need on hand.

I will start a new thread for this as I will need advice on restoring these OG’s (All my current cars are ReRe’s). BUT, I just got a surprise box from my brother in the post.
They have been in many lofts over the last 30 years. He’s moved about and decided he has no inclination to do anything with them, so he gifted them to me. Wouldn’t let me touch them when I was 8/9, so about time :-)

More to follow

Thanks. I saw you were very happy with yours, and the general feeling about them is quite positive (unlike the TA06!). Hoping I can get this into a similar "fun to drive" setup as I have managed with my FF03.

A used DT01 Mad Fighter body.  It's an unusual body moulded in a weird colour, but it was cheap and I've got an idea for a paint job for it.

Some steel shafts to replace the screw pins in my thunder dragon. This should hopefully remove a lot of the problem with the A5 part breaking.

My postman still hasn't delivered any of my parcels from the Far East this week :(

So as a touch of retail therapy I visited my local hobby shop, now relocated within walking distance of my house (!!!) And bought these for my upcoming DF02 restoration:

Never heard of Helion RC before but they have some pretty decent reviews online. Dampers are "big bore" allegedly and have dust seals. Particularly like the dual springs on the larger dampers, very cool.

And then went ahead and spent £100 over at Asiatees which I suspect will take weeks to turn up too...

I ordered a couple of servos from HobbyKing yestersday.

One arrived just now - A Blue Bird BMS 621 DMG.  I have these fitted to most of my runners and they seem to work well.  No failures yet.

But they are getting a bit pricey nowadays, so I also ordered a Turnigy of a similar spec but lower price -  TGY-4409MD.  Unfortunately that's coming from the EU warehouse so I don't expect to see that for a few weeks.  I've no experience with Turnigy servos, so I hope it's a good one.

^^ thats quick isn't it! let us know if the turnigy one is any good.. will ned one for this

4ud6H0yl.jpg

Not sure what body to put on it - I have a Mk2 escort shell, but that might go on the TA03.

Also not sure if to go brushless or stick with a 1060 and a 15T brushed motor. Brushless (to me..) inevitably means running lipo and although I have one know they're a bit of a pain.. deicsions decisions..

That 4409MD came stock in the Desert Fox from HK.  I bashed my DF for a couple of years until I got sick of breaking front suspension pieces.  That servo then went into a Stampede that my kids bashed for another couple of years.  Now it is in my BL Stampede.  I really like it,  it's been great to me!  I also picked up a couple of 1250TG's and a TS-920 to try out.

Organizing all the post that I've been amassing for the TT02 S-type build that I didn't get around to starting yet. It will be epic. For me.

I like those wheels.

I've just received a new rear gearbox case sprue for my Chevy S-10.  It'll be a bit of a mash up - the existing plastic is red but the new gearbox case etc is the silver Porsche one.  Even more of a mash up when I run it with the Chevy wheels and the Racecraft buggy shell and spoiler!  I just hope I stop breaking things on it - i'm not going mad with it either.

Yep I have, I’m not concerned about performance with these at all, it’s purely about the look, silver cans just look so standard, I’m not even all that interested in the new silver Sport Tuned or Torque Tuned Motors TBH

I totally agree with you, Kym. They could have at least done a full wrap sticker with some colour on the Torque and new Sport. Half of the fun is getting something that looks physically different. Who wants to look at something that looks identical to the one that comes in every standard kit?

If it makes you feel any better, my Kyosho tires still havent arrived from the USA, ordered March 26th. Think I may have to email the seller, even though it's not his fault. 😔
