The "Postman Brought Me" Thread

Basically, although not the Volvo you saw when we caught up, I'd earlier this year replaced it with a 2005 S60 which was intended for the kids at some stage. I have wanted an Octavia for a few years now, they seem to review really well, are pretty good to drive despite the small 1.4 litre engine and are well priced. The one I got was a demo, there being a choice between that or a silver one. I had silver before so it was time to brighten things up. Also the demo only had 14 kms on the clock.

14kms OMG I'd love a car with that mileage on it! I'm in the process of looking for a new motor at the moment my daily work car is a 2015 Ford focus 1.6 diesel with 198000 which I put 178000 of them198000 miles (318000 ish kms) hasn't been a bit of trouble other than servicing and general wear and tear I haven't spent a penny on it my last one before that lasted me 238000 miles before it killed itself with the timing belt snapping! So I'm thinking focus no3 but probably after xmas I like that blue on the skoda!

This one is apparently a Traxxis 1/18th,  I only got it as it came with a GB-01 Tamiya Tamtech Frog. Not even remotely interested in it, so if anyone wants it.

2020-11-08-recent-purchases-11.jpeg

and the Tamtech Frog. I manage to get a new Fox body from RCMART really cheap, plus a few spares. I couldn't get the front top swings arms, but should be able to make something.

I'd bought this reasonably cheaply, thinking I could use the spare parts, plus another lot of bits that are still to come. But in the end when I tallied up the cost it probably wasn't worth it to be honest.

This was basically new, except the chassis is built, and too good a price to pass up :D

2020-11-08-recent-purchases-16.jpeg

plus some model kits, very happy with this find

Some goodies there!

Snapping timing belts is never good!

I wasn't intending on going new a couple of weeks ago, but did need to upgrade. I'd found a Volvo XC50 wagon for a good price, only 149,000 kms on it too, test drove and said I'd take it, how do I pay? Only to be told that they'd promised someone else could look at it! Needless to say I didn't get the car. Here, a lot of new car dealers have very good finance rates (1.9%) and good deals on the first 5 yrs of servicing. That combined with the really low fuel usage of these is what made me go new.

cheers, yeah the body kit does look good, but this was really the limit of what I wanted to spend. I did get a towbar with it though.

Nice! That looks like a decent sized box too...I’m always a wee bit deflated when my RC Mart orders arrive at how small a box you can fit $x00 worth of parts in!!!

Like, is THAT it??? 😂

Oh it came with a Range Rover hard Shell for a 313mm crawler. The body is for my friend.

A used and dusty Super Fighter G with Futaba radio. Got it from a classified site for 25 € as it was sold as defect. It is complete and not so much used as I thought for that price. Receiver, ESC, Servo and Motor are included and it has no obvious damage. I think I will rebuild it as a birthday present for my nephew as his first hobby grade RC car.

Btw: Does anyone know if the front wheels for the Mad Bull are available in white? And if so, do you know the part number?

RCMart's efficient packaging is largely responsible for my continued ability to sneak 100s of dollars' worth of parts past the wife on a regular basis, so I'm all for it honestly.

You know your hobby becomes an addiction when you start to do things on the quite behind closed doors to get what you ‘need’.
I heard on the street that there was a largely unknown distributor of such goods  that can be made available from a secret address (not on any map) under the guise of a seedy looking nightclub.
After a meeting was arranged via a friend of a friend of a friend I found myself in the dark shadows of the said nightclub’s Boss man (alias @yogi-bear ) with some intimidating bodyguards flanking his sides.
Once the practicing Lap dancers were  ushered away it was down to business, on my agreement of the terms and conditions the specialist unobtainium merchandise was exchanged.

The lengths you go to are well worth it in the end 😉

I don't usually get involved in this thread because it moves too fast for me to keep up (I usually don't get around to uploading photos until 3 days after I took them!)

However these arrived today.  A new set of alloy wheels for the new-build CFX-W, as I'm not really into the plastic wheels that came with it and don't want to glue on a perfectly good set of tyres if I'll never want to use them, and the rest is CC01 bits for the Hop-up vs Homebrew thread.  Won't all be installed in one go - I want to take a slow approach to fitting and testing with these.  I'm not really sure if it's legally or socially acceptable to be out in the woods playing with RC cars right now (it's a strange world when you're not even sure what's legal and what's not :p ) so it might wait a while before anything more happens with these parts.

I place the blame for this happening squarely on @berman

I saw his one and that got me looking for this kit.  It was available locally at nearly the same price as RCMart.  SOLD!

Instead of buying a crawler I upgraded my home PC last week.  I thought I'd need a new copy of Windows but turns out I was able to transfer it from the old one to the new.  With the money saved it put me most of the way towards a cheap Tamiya kit.

The vqs dampers turned up yesterday for my super astute (well actually had to go and pick them up from the RM office because HM revenue got their mits on them and the customs charge had to be paid not the end of the world!) but win some loose some!

Some carbon effect F103 chassis protectors from Teampicomx on ebay. They look really nicely cut - the bad news is they took ages to arrive. They were posted on the 1st September according to the post mark on the envelope and didnt arrive till today although the seller was great at keeping in contact to check if they had arrived or not.

Early Christmas presents arrived :)

IMG_1936.jpg

They'd both been on the list for a while, so when I saw them both on Jadlam's deal this week, it felt rude not to. The weather's not the greatest for painting, so no idea when they'll get built. Thundershot was my first RC car back in the day, so I'm hoping for some memories to come back as I build the Scorcher.
