The "Postman Brought Me" Thread

Recommended Posts

got some goodies for the TT02D and the Slash 2WD (yet to arrive) all of the stuff has some work to get done before its ready. im waiting for 40wt Losi oil to come in for the shocks and replace the plastic oil CVAs. the Tamiya connector set and Traxxas parts will need cutting/crimping and soldering to serve as proper connector adaptors.

Couple of little bits from Tonys.

The wheels are going to be painted white to go on my M05 CR-X.

Funny thing I realised a couple of months ago. When you buy the m-chassis stabiliser set for the m01/2 it comes with a front and rear bar, but the rear only fits the 210mm and the 239mm version. The bar needed to fit the 225mm chassis comes in the kitset, not the separate stabiliser set. If you dont buy the stabiliser set, it isnt used

That's wack, why not just throw it in with the stabiliser set?

Interesting, build thread surely? 😁

Probably not, I might keep it sealed and build it in a few years.

I've always wanted that model but the decals scare me.

Just got this year's project. Well part of it anyway. Just waiting on payday to get the servos and bits to start building.

Got 3s Lipo for my Agrios. Programmed ESC to Lipo, max Fwd 75%, max bkw 25%.

It was like driving a new RC Car much more punch and seem to last forever compared to Nimh (dual motor setup on Agrios is clearly to much for Nimh). I think i did hit the perfect setup at first try. Just the right speed as it is now so im sure 100% fwd speed is not good for silver can or RC car in general.

The Silver can was just barely warm after 30 min fooling around, the ESC was cold, but it was also -12 outside :). Had a great time outside, wife is not happy though

Got a new precision screwdriver set. I like to keep one handy just for the odd thing my normal tools won't fit and to have something to take when I go out just in case.

I have a "kamasa" set but the metal has never been any good and it's not the good old Japanese Kamasa, just Chinese stuff with the name plonked on it. The box broke and the handle began to liquidise so I had a look around for a cheap replacement.

I saw a few people recommend these "Raitool" ones and they were on offer on Banggood for £10. I thought I would give them a whirl. They are supposedly made of proper steel with a 60 HRC rating. No idea if that's true but I've seen people express pleasant surprise. Cant be any worse than the usual fake chrome vanadium stuff, right?

Anyways, it turned up the other day. First impressions are good for the price. The case is metal and the tray inside that holds the bits and driver locks inside with a push release mechanism. The quality of the driver itself seems ok but nothing amazing. Ditto for the bits. The bits are magnetic and use magnetism to stay in place whilst being stored.

I've taken apart a couple of things now using the phillips tips and hex tips and they seem to have held up ok so far. No obvious wear and no build up of metal dust on the tips. Based on that, they will probably be fine for the occasional use they will get. If I get a few years out of them. I'll be happy.

Only problem now is the "something to take when I go out part" I'll feel bad having the case rattling around in my bag and getting scratched up!

After taking apart several RCs both hobby grade and toy grade, the tips seem to be holding up pretty well. Certainly a world away from those crappy silver bits you often get with cheap sets. I'm impressed for the price. I think these will do me fine for the next few years considering I just put them through more intensive use than they will probably ever see again.

I took a punt on some alloy wheels for my MK1 Escort shell.

They were A$27 but with A$10 off and delivered  in 10 days I’m very happy with them 👍🏻

I have the previous version, a MX-V. Great entry radio, would not recommend for RC racing but more then a great radio for hobby.

Nice 👍🏻. I was sceptical that they were actually alloy when I saw them, but it was a relief that they are. I think the Bronze colour should suit a Classic car.

ive made some changes to my 2 sets of these rims. the mono color are running drift tires, the red  rimmed ones are going to run soft rubber compound. i dont know how long they will last on asphalt but there is one way to find that out fast. depending on the answer might have to find a harder rubber compound.  the bronze will look nice on your kit, i chose purple as they were in the first 2 amazon pages and the other colors hidden further back...

my only big flaw with these rims are they have a super tight fit with drift tires, technically that's good but removing them is annoying if you dont have the tools. the MST tire tool kit was insufficient to remove the new treads by hand (one tire was lucky but the other 3 werent...), i had to get 2 1/8 aluminum plates and a automotive C clamp to remove them. though since they are aluminum rims you dont need to worry about over boiling the rims :). maybe the the combo of aluminum and plastic make some sort of thermal issue along side the tight fit to remove it by hand. a good screw driven tire removal kit or just C Clamp + special tool are a must IMO. i put boiling water into a metal bowl and they didnt come off easy like plastic rims.

Good choice. Only real downside is spare receivers are a little pricey. But having said that I never had the slightest glitch from mine. I’ve got 10 receivers and they are waterproof!
