Postie dropped this off yesterday I didn't realise they worked on a Sunday? I paid a little more than I would have wanted but I remember having one in my thunder shot many many years ago it's a 12t and I remember running the standard pinion from the kit it lasted about one nights racing!

Just got an SMS saying i could pick up my SD1 shell, they can´t deliver because of customs fees .

Anyway, got it now :). Covered in paperwork, L&L had written a value on the CP72 form (Despatch notes) but the customs forms from Parcel Force were completely blank :(. Thus explaining the problems i had.

Anyway, quickly unpacked it, quality looks to be good, with a minor crease in the rear sill. 2 sets of stickers and masks were included.

Good to see that the problem with customs was clarified in the end. Looking forward to your build.

Yeah that's 1040's. Same as what came with my CEN monster truck. 👍

Nice! Where did you score a NIB Clod if you don't mind me asking?

Cheers! On ebay. 99.99% likely it not a Chevy Clod but whilst it remains shrink wrapped I can 0.01% dream lol

Yeah but ignorance is bliss! ;)

With a production run from 1987 to 2003 & Chevy badged ones only up to 1990 it’s not good odds right…

Simple, open the shrink wrap and check. It is only a distributor added wrap anyways 👍

I've been on a bit of a motor hunt of late and thought I'd give this a punt on Ebay and I got it very cheap🤷‍♂️ never heard of these don't even know what turn it is but what I did notice is when I've got other manufacturers motors they often are made buy other companies like reedy is yokomo tamiya mabushi/Johnson etc this actually just has MRI stamped all over it and it looks very well made?

The old Spec 19T motors were proper fast. My Reedy 19T spec would almost (and I meant literally) keep with a 12T Reedy KR . Bit like a cheap LRP 17T motor would struggle to keep up with a rebuildable stock 27T like a GM3 or P2K 👍 my old GM3 Pro was a 27T rebuildable stock and used to Dyno at around 34K rpm at 7.2V. 👍

i think the lrp my mate had was around a 11/12 turn and his was in a top-force as he was one that had to have everything better  and the mri i ran in my manta ray and it was always on his tall when we was running them then o brought a lrp black e motor and that thing was just mad i still have the case it came in but i can not for the life of me find the motor but all that you typed has gone over my head

I just ordered that  drill for myself yesterday!  Apparently you can hop it up with ball bearings 😉

Thanks for the info, much appreciated!

I'm tempted to take the parts off the sprue and have my son build it so he can see how his 'toy' one works. But then I won't have the fun of doing it myself ...

Big package came today with 4 beautiful items. These all came from the friendly Martin at MirageRC. Very nice guy and an amazing crafter of custom/special parts for Tamiya RC cars.

First up, an aluminum rear spoiler, in the style of the Hotshot II, not the original.

Next up, a new style aluminum bumper for the Hotshot, or Hotshot II. Drop in replacement.

Third we have a beautiful aluminum skid plate, similar to the Supershots. Drop in replacement.

Last, but not least, is an all aluminum body shell for the Hotshot II. What in the name of...

It feels like Christmas!

A few bits a pieces for the SD1 build.

Fluorescent yellow paint and red for the stipes, leds and light buckets for the front and rear. Window wipers x3 and wing mirrors that need a little modifying.
