Cool mate, what body is with it?🙂

The pickup looks better, but this came in at a good price. Will probably go gunmetal, possibly with a straight black "removable top". Obviously it's not removable here.

Hope you're on the mend soon mate, enjoy building that beauty and behaving like a surgeon demanding particular tools to be handed to you by the wife... "Pass me a No.2 Philips head"...

Old age, arthritis, degenerative disc disorder and being rammed by another bus about 15 years ago. Now all works brilliantly apart from some long term nerve damage in my legs and feet

Only one disc for me, 20 years of roof and ladder work will do that.

7 weeks in now, much more mobile now, held off the build until I was feeling better in case I get carried away and lose track of time. I know what you mean surgeon said don’t sit for too long

My M-08R hasn't reached the UK yet :(

I have got the stickers for the body though so I think I'll get started on trimming and stickering. Though depending on the factory finish, I may back the paint with silver.

This badboy arrived today.  I've been meaning to buy one of these since I did a rallycross test day last summer, but it's an expensive setup as it needs ESC, motor and batteries of types that I don't even have.

There'll be a thread in the racing subforum once I get it ready to go, for those who want a bit more info.

sm_IMG_20230111_110349.jpg

Comes as a rolling chassis, so the box insides are fairly boring

sm_IMG_20230111_110455.jpg

Chassis is a completely different game to your typical Tamiya tub basher or double-deck race car, different even to typical 1:8 stadium truck bashers like Arrma or Traxxas

sm_IMG_20230111_110550.jpg

Comes with an ugly body, but good enough to get me started as I need to save some pennies.  I think it looks a bit like a small Vauxhall.

Next to my Top Force Evo, for size comparison - this beast is huge!

Hopefully just scored a good deal from a local friend and former TC member for a basic motor and ESC to get me going, just saving for batteries now...

The body reminds me of the McRae R4

ooh, so it does.  It's uncanny, the R4 is almost as ugly as the HoBao.

I still kinda like the idea that it's a little production car, though.  Rallycross cars should really be production vehicles that have been turned into racing weapons in rickety sheds by crazy people, not £200,000 thoroughbred race cars.

My mate's late father built and raced a 4wd rallycross car with a spaceframe chassis and a 250bhp Vauxhall red top motor, with a fibreglass Corsa body plonked on top.  It might have even been held on with body posts and R-clips.

New plier! Wanted to get the tamiya one, but it seems like not many of them are available + price is bit too much.

Ended up finding this one that also comes with spare plastic tips. Japan made for around $15.

A few deliveries for my TA03 builds

A new belt and used TA03R with well used NSX body The TA03R has some carbon bits, along with super stock RZ motor, a one-way diff, full bearings, as well as tuned springs and sway bars.

I also grabbed a weight, 969g with wheels/tires and a motor. No other electronics.

I've not looked it up but I seem to remember the R4 being McRae's pet project and a tech showcase for ProDrive - hence the cost @Mad Ax

There was something about magic anti-lag.

There are hints of the Sylva Jester if you want something a bit more 'homebrew'. The Ka and Fiesta-based kits were used in autotesting in mags I used to read (I gave up on the 1:1 kit, 1:10 is cheaper).

Nice pliers @Sogogi, I need replacement tips for my Tamiya ones as the got hard and brittle.
