Blimey... Did Tamiya do a paint by numbers Clod :D

(And yes I realise that technically all Tamiyas are paint by numbers if you use the box art paint codes, before anyone tries to split filamentous biomaterials :P    )

I think 'distinctive' is probably the kindest description :)

Looks like quite a project, though David has rescued and revitalised quite a few ailing beasties. Best of luck with this one mate!

I finally bit the bullet and bought some Solvit last week to help me finish off the L.B paint stripping!

Having tried it out I now realise that a litre is plenty and 5 litres will last me a lifetime!

Thanks to steveu30 and lemonslip for the recommendation.

It would have been quicker and easier to go this way early on, but it's all good experience : )

I did exactly the same myself Simon wasting weeks using oven cleaner and brake fluid until I finally resorted to using DeSolvIt, like you say though, it's all good experience. I still wouldn't use it on lexan mind as I've heard too many horror stories, but on hard bodies (even vintage ones) it's unbeatable.

grumpy pants you could strip a real car with that.

and no don't use it on lexan it turned a Dyna storm body of mines all cloudy. :( another tip make sure your room your working in is well ventilated. I was as high as a kite working with it. :)

@matman: I was up to build this if the condition was bad, but such a great sealed condition, it will stay as it is and wait for my kits from Stella and Banzai to be built ;)

Zit, nada, nothing today... but awaiting arrival of an Avante 2K1 body kit, another Avante 1988 chassis with original shocks to complete my resto project and another Technigold which was too tempting to let it go :)
