That's a smart selection of upgrades! Next up I'd recommend you drop the overdrive ratio (CS) a bit to maybe 1.7 or 1.8, upgrade the pulleys to aluminium and get a center belt tentioner. After that you'll have almost every common Sakura D3 issue sorted :)

Today, I received a fresh receiver:

How do I know it is fresh? It still has the factory-applied double-sided tape from the Losi where it originally lived!

In the vendor's defence, though, the picture did include this piece of tape...

Thanks! :) I did a bit of reading. I was aware of needing the alloy pulleys and a tensioner for the centre belt (although I only see a rear one) but I ran out of pocket money. Any part numbers etc? I heard the 2.14 ratio was quite high too but I was going to try it first and go from there. Any more advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.

If I like this and take a decent interest, I will consider buying a high end Yoko/MST etc kit B)

Good quality rubbers for the dampers will help a lot (TRF soft O-rings and bladders), and maybe aluminium damper cilinders. Also a good idea is to swap out the buttonhead screws for grubscrews (14mm I have in mine) as the droopscrews in the arms. The normal buttonhead screws can rub on the steering, especially the aluminium hopup steering parts and are also in the way when you want to adjust the cams on the diffs.

Another good thing to do is to pre-thread all parts with an M3 tap. That way none of the screws will be crooked.

Just don't get drawn in by all the shiny parts, especially the Yeah Racing stuff, and you'll be good :) Its a great car, but not out of the box. It needs a little bit of help

Thanks Tizer! I found I only had to pre tap certain thread holes luckily. Yeah the front droop screws had to come out with the alloy steering, will look into those 14mm grubs and the TRF bladders and orings. The front is quite soft even with the blue springs (the shocks are set up as factory apart from blue and purple springs). Just want the two alloy belt tensioners and that is it for the pink stuff for me, never been a big fan of alloy bits  Cheers! B)

The postie just bough me a set of front and rear CRP 1 3/4" Rough Rider wheel covers new in packets. The chrome ones with the five large circular holes.

I've been looking for these literally for years, only to find them as a set though the same seller last week. Price was good, and it was one the most satisfying purchases I've made in all of my parts hunting. Got some Rough Rider wheel sets here that have been plated, so I can make a full three piece plated set. Break out some new Sand Blaster Jr's from the vault and they will look trick indeed on my Scorcher build. STOKED!

Just need a nice original motor cover now, and some time.

Posty bought my brothers birthday present

A tamiya wild willy 2

I will build it up for him then present him with the finished car

Forgot to say that the postie brought me a TGS yesterday, it's rather battered and has seen much better days, but it's a nice project to get going on with as I've fancied a nitro Tamiya car for a while now. I could have spent more and bought a better one to begin with, but at 24 with lots of spares and a couple of engines, I'm happy with it.

Sounds like a good buy, not a lot lost if it's beyond economic repair. In fact you could probably resell the engines and get your money back or not far off. !

Had a good delivery today myself...a TEU-105BK to go in the Sand Viper rolling chassis picked up from Rallyebaz on Sunday, plus an assortment of bits to help me complete the conversion of HB2010 into Sand Viper, and to complete the new Sand Viper...

There's more on the way too, including servo, Etronix Transmitter/ Receiver, plus an assortment of DT02 bits bought from Percymon on here too...

Hoping to be out with one, if not both, Sand Vipers at the practice session at TORCH this Sunday afternoon...

Today an XV-01 Pro chassis courtesy of DaveB, now to source a body worthy of the chassis!

I'm thinking this maybe?

But a front-motor Stratos? Although you do have that lovely S4, which would make any Lancia-related decision harder for that chassis... Would an early Escort or an Audi Quattro work?

Yeah it's probably more suited to a TA-03R which was my original intention, I guess I'm just desperate to get that body on a chassis! Plus that front splitter isn't going to last long on a runner so I may have to think a bit harder.
