Today I got a Vapex hardcase 3300 mah 7.4v Lipo battery. It's the rounded type that's suppose to fit where a Nicad/Nimh racing pack would.

Comes in a nifty box labeled Lithium-ion for some reason. All good so far, it's about the same width and thickness as a standard 7.2v Nimh pack but the case is apx 4-5mm longer!

d58aa19aa0147859f0141cac66cfeb77.jpg

Main issue is the cables don't exit the case in the centre of the end but are split like this.

fe396cf7e37762c4f3a1ce4fb3c768e4.jpg

This is a real shame as the case itself fits into the oval battery location in my TL01, WT01, WW2 and the VLB just fine! But the wire location creates problems.

The standard TL01 type holder can just fit between the wires but as you can see it puts pressure on the alignment. It'll be an easy mod but still not quite a direct swap and play.

The WT01 truck step style holder is more of an issue and means the wires are bent and flattened a little more than I'd like. Not too keen to run the car off road with this arrangement as the wiring will be put under a fair bit of stress.

Saying that of you swap it for the TL01 holder it's fine!

I didn't take a photo of it in the WW2 as the case was too long to allow the holder to be fitted at all [emoji53]

It was ok in the Lunchbox and just needed a little thought to how you route the cables.

I'll let you know how I get on with other chassis.

I wouldn't have recommended that battery personally, I've found the cables make it difficult to fit to many of my chassis :(

Best one I've bought so far has been the Yuki Brainergy as recommended on here. Only available in Germany, but worked out under £25 delivered all the same - and was probably quicker than our own royal mail...

If you get the quick release battery hop-up then that pack fits a bit better

Still traps the balance wire but not as much.

It fits a DT-02 with the servo arm mod

Some bearings for my Frankenstein mad bull

Really like FastEddies prices and selection, and they ship pretty quick too!

Have fun!

Nic, you can use those batteries with a WW2 too.

The battery retainer won't fit as you've discovered, but you can just use the clips. The battery is a tiny bit fatter than most Nimhs, so it can be a tight fit. There are two screws on the top of the chassis that hold the chassis halves together. Back those off a bit to allow the battery compartment to spread.

There are two types of posts for the battery retainer (part E4). The later type is longer with two holes. If you dremel the retainer to clear the wires you could potentially use a modified retainer with the longer E4 parts. More work, but do-able.

But the easiest way is to just use the clips. I've run mine dozens of times like this and never had a battery move at all.

Good advice mate! Trying it out I found that thanks to an earlier mod where I took some material off the bottom of the bodyshell to sit lower, it'll probably hold this battery in place anyway [emoji6]

If I run like that I'll still fit the clips though just in case! I don't really like seeing wires hangout out like that but you get it with a Nimh pack anyway. At least these lipos are black so they don't stand out on visible chassis's.

I had a Storm when I was a kid and thought it was awesome so when I seen this I thought I'd go for it. I found the chassis to be a great performer at the time and I liked the alloy chassis.

Schumacher Club 10, seems in decent condition. Rebuild, new shell and tyres and that should do.

Also came with what looks like the remains of a madcap. I think its too far gone though with no gearbox and a cracked chassis.

I got a few boxes today.

Box 1) the remote for my daughters P!nk Neo Scorcher surprise birthday present:

05.13.2015-20.10.png

I thought the AVC would help make this as fun as possible for her. No one likes it when their car won't go where they point it and supposedly this AVC will do just that.

Box 2 and 3) Steering servo, the low voltage alarms and battery charge bag in anticipation of my birthday present this Friday. No idea what car I'm getting but I'm sure I'm getting a new racer. ^_^ Box 3 has nothing to do with R/C. An X-acto set so I can try to open up my iPod classic 120GB and replace the battery and screen. Wish me luck!

Good luck. Hope you get something nice (RB6?).

Dorvack.

It's in a Tamiya box but that's all I know. You can be sure I'll make a post here when I open it on Friday!

Technically this came a couple of weeks ago, under my wife's name. I wasn't allowed to open it until my birthday (today). Speculation was high and I really thought I was getting a Sand Viper but nooooooo. I got this:

05.15.2015-08.18.png

I can't find any TRF 201 build threads on the forum so I suppose it's up to me to make one.

What an awesome gift! I've dropped hints of a mountain rider or tundra for my birthday but there is little chance it will be a surprise.... More like " sure honey go ahead and order your birthday gift" lol. But then again I always get the one I want...

Some cute little mesh wheels for my upcoming M06 Eunos Roadster project. The closest thing I could get to the old BBS wheels on my 1:1 car.

DSC_0276.jpg

I've now got the paint and the wheels for this project. Pretty vague starting point huh?!
