My first order from Seidel, in Germany, has arrived!

A few projects are getting closer to completion! :)

Good effort, how quick was the delivery?

Posted

I finally got most of my M chassis bits from overseas auctions, they were hung up in customs and then it looked like they were left behind with the normal Saturday deliveries, only to appear on the doorstep at 6pm, so a nice surprise, but they didn't even ring the bell and if I had run out the house like Dagwood Bumstead, I would have crushed these gems and tripped and nearly killed myself I think.

Even got a used Novak ESC that I need to power up and see how it works, it LOOKS great though

Bought a Bullhead with some work. It was really cheap, so now it arrived and waiting in the project line-up to be fixed and renewed.

Racer, you'll definitely know the quick answer to this, will a Super Hornet shell fit on an original Hornet chassis?

Also, any pics/threads of your truck based Hornet/Grasshopper?

Jason,

I'm away on a business trip so I don't have the cars in front of me to check this so it' purely from memory.  I do not believe the Super hornet will simply drop on the old Hornet chassis. If i'm correct the rear section of the Super hornet chassis is just a bit taller where the body mounts so the body sits just a bit higher. If you attempt to drop the Super Hornet body on old chassis the body will hit at the rear uprights so you will either need to figure out how to raise the rear body mounts or notch the body slightly to get it to sit down far enough. I do believe the front mounts are in the correct location. I can check this when I get home this weekend.

I do not have any picks if the truck builds but I can tell you that one was home made and the other was a kit from Ebay from about 15 yrs ago.  I'll post picks of both when I get home.

Interesting rig there Mud, looks like someone was serious about adapting as much as they could to that body, but they clipped the bumper and is that battery sideplate for weight saving or perhaps they lost the original???? I didn't remember if the undertray was sold for fitment on the M01 or other, but it looks cool none the less. LOTS of hop ups on that one.

What I'm hearing here is that all your Grasshoppers and Hornets are left unattended at your house..  right.. what's the address and I'll go baby sit them all!

I only asked because I saw a Super Hornet shell on Tamico.de but later saw it's out of stock so can't even buy it :(

Maybe it's a blessing in disguise anyway as you've filled me in about fitment issues to my original Hornet anyway ;)

Saw these pop on eBay so I snatched them up.  In their infinite wisdom, Tamiya has discontinued these yellow rear wheels (but not the fronts).  I can still get the white ones but yellow goes with my color scheme!

Yeah, not sure about the battery plate I'm assuming it's to go with the lexan tray which it looks to line up with the chassis perfectly but never heard of nor seen one before

Oh THOSE ones, got it, neat looking to be sure. Now if I could just find a polycarbonate spray color to make myself a Khaki VW Bug, any suggestions, even if they are not Tamiya(GASP)brand???

Question - Is the Fluorescent Yellow DN01 rear wheel # 54287 any different ?  Does anyone know..... different colour etc because RCMart list these a suited to TRF501X / DB01 etc and it looks like the same wheel to me.

Have you checked TamiyaUSA's site. The last time I looked the website said " Temporarily out of stock" so I gave them a call to see when they were expecting more and they had some sitting on the shelf. I bought a few to hold me over. It's only been a year or so. Maybe they still have them.

Check for PN #58124

Postage to U.K. Would sour the deal I'm sure, thanks anyway.

I have no idea but the 54287 are listed as in stock at Tamiya USA.  Why Tamiya would produce the same item under two different stock numbers is beyond me but if they are in fact suitable to use on my 201/211 I'll be a happy camper!

Which hex wheel are you using?  I'd like to transition away from pins.

51581, do you need the hex hop up number?
