The "Postman Brought Me" Thread

Nice score @moffman

I got my hands on one of those turnigy 3rd channel switches, some heavier shock oil for my bigwig and a couple of other wee bits and bobs but the best thing that arrived wasn't delivered by the postie but rather the Dr's at the local hospital as Mrs SCN gave birth to a wee girl. It's been a long hard road for us both but it's finally happened. To say I'm over the moon is a massive understatement.

Congratulations on the little lady! Mine is about to turn 2 and in two weeks my 2nd is due, so time consuming, so exhausting, so rewarding...

Thanks TurnipJF

Im very new to this car thing and I will ask stupid questions.

Whats obvious to others is new to me until I've done it then

its obvious to me.

How important is it to be able to disconnect the switch and lighting harness from each other? With a bit of soldering and some heat shrink, you could hardwire the switch and harness together and only use the one plug supplied with the switch - you wouldn't even need to buy a Y-lead.

Another expensive week! My number one most wanted body set, a second, almost complete sticker sheet (missing the wheel stickers and a few window frames which I can both make replacements for). Taisan 911 GT2 stickers and some less interesting bits.

Thanks TurnipJF

I like the idea of the Y lead plug and play.

The Y lead has been ordered off eBay so no problem

but thanks for the suggestion.

WOW, looks like you will have some more building coming up. I don' t know if you know about a website called "8380labs.com", they have some awesome shots of past racing cars, you might enjoy it's daily "BLOG" post.

It would also seem I need to send you my TWO extra wing parts trees for this Escort Cosworth, one in white(now yellowing, missing mirrors) and one in Safety Orange(complete)

I did mine in the same colours as my B5m and it looks cracking (at least I think so) IMG_20160410_161004.jpg

Wanted box art colours, but still need to decide what that colour actually is! 🤔

I'm not sure what colour kyosho used tbh it's a right weird colour. You might have to go down the custom colour mixing route. I use createx paints (waterbased airbrush paint) for all my shells and they're a doddle to mix. Your other option would be to get in touch with a professional shell painter and get them to colour match and paint it up.

That sounds complicated (expensive!)

Must be one off the shelf close enough.

Postman brought my Rx Controlled Switch.

Anyone know how I connect it up please?

I guess the plug goes to the Rx but where do the 2 bare wires go?

Now maybe I'm a little late to this discussion but I feel like you guys are over thinking this with Y connectors and extra batteries and such. Im not even sure a Y connector will work for that...

The switch should go in between the RX and the led strip. Try plugging your switch into the RX, then carefully slide the bare wires into the connector for the led setup. Try to match colors up but don't be afraid to mix up if it isn't working. Once you have them inserted in the connector try your tx ch3 switch to see if it works. If it doesn't, change the wires around and try again.

Then when you find a combo that works put a female connector on with the color combo that works and plug it in!

Thanks Munchbox that's a very clear explanation that I will try.

I will still try the Y lead as well I just want to see if it would work.

Hi SCN, it's a XCSOURCE HJ Digital Servo Tester / ESC Consistency Tester Multifunctional Meter for RC Helicopter Airplane Car 4.8-6V RC188

got it on amazon. A bit more expensive than without the digital readout testers there.

6v Battery pack (4x1.5v AA batteries), many of those on amazon, I went for one with a switch on it.
