The "Postman Brought Me" Thread

Nothing too exciting, just a new case for my savox 0254 servo to replace the one that I had to chop up to fit my f103 and a kimbrough servo saver for my manta ray.

Some fresh victims for my touring cars and fancy new body shells.  I'll report back how I get on with them but I'm expecting improved stability and more MPH..

Two metal geared servos.

One for the Stadium DT-03 and a spare.

Need to do a few motor a ESC swaps about and have a model audit. Less toys and more playing with toys needed.

A balance board to charge the Tamiya LiFE battery in my Dancing Rider. Bizarrely no one in the UK could supply a balance lead for the battery from my charger (Overlander RC6). For those that need one search for a HiTec RCD 44178 on Amazon. Only took about 2 1/2 weeks from Japan.

Had to get a new receiver for my MF01X Jimny after putting it in the TT02R.  Trying to get the MF01X steering sorted out too.  The stock servo saver had a lot of movement, so I'm going with the Hi-Torque saver and M03/04 arm.  I've previously super-glued the stock saver but I decided to try this out.

I once fitted that servo Saver 5100 and it was a total fluke at the eleventh hour that I finally managed to get it assembled before my poor sliced and diced fingers needed to be amputated... the brute force needed to open those metal rings and then slide themover eachother :(

How will you fit it, is there an easier way than my finger torture method?

The metal rings should be easy to fit - I've done loads !

If you engage 1 end and then just ease it over the ring already fitted bit by bit it will snap into place - don't fight the whole spring pressure at the same time ;)

I have to admit that the first one I did took me awhile and seemed like it was going to end in failure.  This one I put together easily.  Maybe it's nerves from using force.  Most kits I'm constantly reminding myself to go easy.

For any MF01X owners, the upgrade has made a massive difference to steering precision over stock.  The stock setup had a lot of play.  I tried sanding the stock saver to get a better fit and then superglued it.  Although it took care of 90% of the problem there was still a bit of movement.  This feels much better.

Bits to give the Cat some claws... And a servo saver as the K2 only has a servo horn which makes me nervous!

If it's anything like the K1, the plastic horn strips before the gears in a metal servo do, (not plastic gears), it's only when you fit a metal horn you have problems 😕

Ok it’s down to technique then... I’m way off it seems hehe... might try one more then to see if a different approach works :)

I'd never have realised that! Gotta love the forum for constant info 👍 I'll have to check if the servo is all metal gears. The Associated Servo saver does fit well however.

I have the stock plastic servo horns on my Kyosho race buggies and so far so good. I have heard the alloy ones can cause problems though but that any decent metal geared servo should hold up ok.

Then again I run 17.5T blinky on low traction, you run crazy fast motors with boost so any crashes will be much worse!

I swapped to an alloy one on the KF2, then stripped the gears in a futaba brushless servo, back to plastic now (and crashing less 🙄

My first 3D printed parts all the way from North Carolina thanks to @speedy_w_beans.  They arrived meticulously packaged and he even included the fasteners!

There very impressive in the flesh and even through I know where they are going I was very surprised with how big they actually are (Tamiya TC spring for scale):

They are for the GTR-LM NISMO body, speedy's build thread for more details:
A massive thank you to Speedy for going out his way to help me out :):)

Who remembers the Ford Escort XR31 Mk3?

Well thanks to Bulgaria's finest DriftMesiter I will soon recreate this beauty.... although I'm not too sure about the cling film overspray film..... and the fact it is the toughest and least bendable lexan I've ever felt... but the shell is pretty detailed and it came with some decals, I need to mask the windows myself, this will be a shelfer.

What does selling 7 of your Tamiya cars get you........... a couple of new RC's to try out in the form an ECX Rusckus 2WD and a 4x4 HPI Wheely King

The Ruckus came barely used and can run nimh and a 2s lipo on the stock esc with it's brushed motor.

The Wheely King 4x4 is purely to entertain my 2yr old daughter, after one day ut with it she already loves it (what I tell her mum anyway) ...... a 27Mhz radio, a Nimh only esc (Jolt-R) and a brushed Saturn 27t motor should see hours of use without breakages.... hopefully.

After over a year of (ab)use my DT03 diff bevels gave up last week. Worn down and clicking. These arrived from Sir Tony of Tamiya over the weekend and have just gone in the gearbox to get the Grasshopper3 back up and running

Decided to switch to splined outdrives now I am running a silly motor. All went together lovely. Test tomorrow.

Ordered some alloy wheel adapters for my TXT-2 last Tuesday.

They were shipped in Hong Kong on Wednesday and arrived with me today, Monday.

Pretty impressive for economy shipping!

Oh, those little trucks are a mountain of RC pleasure! :)

I know I'd be extremely surprised to hear of a breakage. You'll see they're tough indeed!

Bulgaria... who'd have thought eh? Tbh I haven't thought about the colour scheme yet but the decals it came with are very realistic for front and rear lights....... bu t no body decals so it will get a one coat colour.

Thanks for the 87164 p/n, will defo try that ;p

A few bits for ‘stock’.

Tools from Japan Plaza we’re reasonably priced. I now have a set for home and a set for work  :D.

Remainder from RCMart.

Threadlock will help me continue with the Asterion build (I know, I could have got Loctite).

Masking sheet so I can make window masks for my Bowler shell and get the body colour on.

I remember when the XR3 arrived on the scene in the early 80's with the cloverleaf alloys , and my dad's mate, who was into Ford's got one. All i wanted to do was go to the beach and do, circles (I was young 🙄) like the other one (mk2). The dissappointment that fwd cars can't do that has never left me.

Which shipping option did you use for Plaza Japan, and how long did the tools take to arrive?
