That looks great @Wez-li. A bargain. Makes me want to go searching!

Coming back to the hobby after a few years out I thought all the bargains were long gone, not so ;)

Today, a TRD skid plate from Shapeways. I was skeptical about 3D printed parts, but am quite impressed with the finish on this piece.

Quite excited about what's just arrived, been wanting to build one of Tamiya's more "modern" vehicles after a few re-re buggies, so though the CC02 would be a good choice. I also like the G500 shape (some would argue this point) but looking forward to seeing how it performs as a trail truck. Will fit with Hobbywing 1080 and some decent rubber, bearings and a reasonable servo.

First purchase in a while.  Body posts for the XV01 in anticipation of a new shell.

Also some threaded shafts for the CR01 steering since I can't find the hop-up part anywhere.  I wanted two of them but I had a brain fade and ordered two pairs of them.

Decals from MCI came in!
Massive thanks goes not only to them but also our own @Mokei Kagaku for scanning his originals for me!

I’ll be using a combination of these decals and the ones which came with the re-release body for the TT02 (chassis has since gone on to @Wetman )

I want it to have a cockpit seeing as they add so much detail. Tempted to put this on a TL01 for the full nostalgia effect (my first Tamiya RC was this Castrol Tom’s Supra TL01)

I bought this for fear of missing out on them, given it's a limited run (again).

Still not sure why, as the upgrade parts are readily available, and I already have 3 XV01s

Some hopups are naturally on order, on the slow boat

The quality is top notch, it was packed beautifully. I’ll know more once I start putting it together. The service and friendliness from Thunder Tech was great as well. They hopefully will have a modernized website up soon, as of right now, they are only on Facebook.

I hope to begin building in the next couple weeks and put up a thread on the build, or at least some final pics.

Picked up some paint while on route with work, bonus I was going past the nearest Hobby Shop to me and didn’t fancy the what was a two and a half hour round trip that is now three and a half hours with the roadworks.

Bright red, Light blue, Silver and Gun Metal, because no tamiya paint selection is complete without Gun Metal is it?

Then chuffed with that after cycling home I have a note from the real postman I missed earlier that (my slightly Asahi fuelled purchase) can be collected. So hopped on the Motorbike thinking  I’m picking up something shoebox size, but not quite,

Now for the fun part 😁
Looking forward to what a Tamiya kit a bit closer to the top shelf is like compared to the basic ones.

So that’ll be my bit towards stimulating the local economy for a little while.

This idea has been brewing for a while. As soon as I realised that Nat could reuce to 1/24th scale i was off. I went through all my spares boxes and founf various bits and bobs. The rear sand tires are from a Manx beach buggy kit, the fronts are from a Harrier Jump jet and the seats and cage are from an Escort. The base model is Tamiya's excellent 1/24th 1300 beetle kit. I have similar plans for a 2CV but thats still in the planning stages. Watch this space for developments.

A lovely RC Mart delivery, under 2 weeks and no customs fees 😎

And....a ££ customs charge notice for a Plaza Japan order which has so far taken nearly 4 weeks 🙄

Sometimes, you eat the bar and sometimes, well, the bar, she eats you

Estimated delivery date on eBay was October, so pleasantly surprised when the Castle 5700kv (fake) motor turned up today, and a set of king pins for the mid!

(Also got a cracking offer on the house, so bought some lottery tickets...🙄😁

Wonder if the fake motor can take the abuse the gen motor could!! 😏

A good day today! After my previous yz10 runner project was too much of a mess to repair and had to be sold, it’s replacement arrived today!
also my £10 non working Tamiya Qd landed, planning on a brushless conversion for that, and it’s also the same size as my daughters old toy story rc, so might rob the body off that !

For a second I thought you have a 1/10 hardbody Beetle. That would be so cool.

Nice project you have there.
