Oh, there's a red one as well. They would make a nice pair! @Wandy Apparantly my LHS has the blue in stock, so I'll be doing a lot of sitting on my hands trying to resist placing a order.

Yeah, it's not as modded as the blue version as it just uses the standard black chassis parts. But still looks nice. Tamiya did make a hop-up chassis part though, moulded in red, so that could be fitted to it.

I've never had a Lunch Box, which probably is a shame, and the need to rectify that is strong. I'll have to think real hard about Super Astutes, Top Cats and Terra Scorchers, not to mention the Ultimas that I still have to get to fight the urge to press click & collect.
But I guess that's what I get for being too occupied with work and life for a couple of years to keep up with the re release goodness.

Where did you buy this tihing or what would the name of the product bee?. I have one blower meant for ktichen use (on Marengs or pig skin etc, i used to be a Chef so i have all these kitchen gadgets)  but i have a problem with filling it with Gas so i gaver up on it, but this i would not need to fill but then again i believe you must have a exact type of lighter

It's an Iroda MJ-600. I got it from Kayfast on Ebay.

It comes with a lighter already but you have to fill it yourself or you can supply your own. I'm not sure about other countries but in the UK about 75% of cheap lighters are in this design. You can usually buy multi packs in the cheap shops for £1

Bull Brand Disposable Flint Lighters 6 Pack

Or you can just get a can of lighter gas and fill the one it comes supplied with.

You can adjust the power of the gun by adjusting the gas control on the lighter. Like I say, I think it's great because you can adjust the power so that it's just right to make the heat shrink activate but not char it or char the plastic on connectors etc which is always a risk when you try and use a naked flame or your soldering iron etc.

Bought another servo relocation mount as the one I ordered from RC Mart 5 weeks ago haven’t arrived yet. It’s the only part that is holding up everything. Got fed up of waiting so I ordered another from Atees and remember that they offered Fedex international priority ship for about $20 to me in the US. So I decided to take the plunge and order my first brushless system and Tamiya RZ motor for my TT01. To my surprise I got free shipping using that Fedex. It only took 2 days from HK to US ! Yea 😀 Even though it took Atees 3 days to process the order due to limited staff working. I’ll be busy this weekend .. more parts coming tomorrow.

Personally I think brush less is the best way to go, I use them in all of my chassis's a part from one, but that's soon to change, when I work out what size of motor to put into my M06.

I have a Max 10 with the matching 4000 kv motor in my M05, I have the program box which makes it easy to program for all types of tacks in seconds. Been able to adjust the punch as well as the drag brake has been a god send. So many possibilities, it will make you change all you chassis's to brushless.

Nice! I'd heard of these, but never seen available to get a hold of; nor any decent shots of one. Keen to see how the body actually looks detail wise, and how you end up finishing it.

Thanks. It's ok detail wise. The undercut under the front bumper is incorrect for a s3, even the boxart depicts it correctly, so it must be difficult to replicate with the mould. I am not sure what colour I am going to paint it yet. There is a gorgeous silver one with HPI cup racer wheels in the showrooms that I wouldn't mind doing it similar to, but will see...

Possibly a molding concern, being able get it to release easily due to angles. Still from that photo looks like the detail is well defined in terms of panels, windows, etc compared to cheaper shells - though its Tamiya so would expect a competent level of detail.

Am i right in they are a short wheelbase 230ish ? so for M chassis only ?

My mate had an '85 S3 - think its been labeled Limited, though i don't remember that naming convention here in AU - but silver with the dark grey side trim, and burgundy interior.

Shipment today is BAT Safe lipo safety box. I decided to bite the bullet to give lipo a go. Might be overkill but i’m paranoid. Starting with 3S mini pack to test the difference with extra voltage. I have 2S higher capacity Tamiya style lipo on order. Rest are XT60 connectors and Gpm turn buckles for TT01

I got this Jimny just before Christmas, now I have all 3 MF-01Xs, well until the Escort comes out, and I will rectify that as quickly as I can B)

2021_01_16_recent_purchases-12.jpeg

and this week some tires and rims arrived for the Jimny (still waiting on bearings to come though)

2021_01_16_recent_purchases-2.jpeg

plus some Cam Am Lola/Datsun parts arrived. I don't need them all, but as they are hard to get, I couldn't pass them up.

Plus I managed to find a Tamtech Hornet at what I thought was a fair enough price. It came complete with radio gear and a battery (still yet to test)

and last week at gyro for the Sand Scorcher for whenever I get to run it again:

The intention is to get it up and running by the summer @J@mes so we can have monster truck time trials in the garden.

I’d really like to get my trail Jeep finished first before starting a new build but that may be unrealistic.

I need to make sure I haven’t repurposed the servoes and ESC I bought for it ages ago! And check whether I bought alternative decals. And did I buy paint?!!!

Is your build about to start?

I ordered chrome too but I got that one in Molotow brand because apparently they are one of the best. I will let you know how I get on with that.

Well I got the pen in. The results are absolutely amazing but there is one problem. The finish is very vulnerable to fingerprints etc even after it has dried. It's very easy to take ruin the mirror effect and end up with the same metallic silver finish you'd get from any regular paint so perhaps better for shelf queens than something that will get a lot of use/handling.

Saying that, apparently Alclad Klear Kote works to protect it if you apply it very carefully.

It might be fine for tiny details like door handles etc even on a runner because the odds of touching such a small part of the body are quite low but for stuff like windscreen surrounds etc, I think it would be better to use Klear Kote or just use something more durable like a silver spray or Tamiya acrylic etc and sacrifice shine for resiliance.

As for the Posca colour paint pens, those are much more durable. You can still scrape the paint off with some effort but simply touching it won't totally ruin the finish. I also discovered while testing the durability that you can buff the paint into an almost glossy finish if you're gentle which is a nice bonus.

So I would say the colour paint pens are pretty good for quick and easy detailing. The Molotow gives amazing results but will need a clear coat ideally and from hat I heat, the alclad is the only one that can be brushed on without ruining the shine, everything else needs to be sprayed on.

I also tried the chrome on some lexan in the hopes that it might be good for spot detailing under the shell but unfortunately it just gives a "silver" finish like any other product and the chrome effect doesn't come through.

Will you have 4WS? I haven’t planned a start for mine. Like you l need an ESC and servos as I used the intended elsewhere.

I believe everything required for 4WS (except servo) is in the kit so it seems rude not to. And Mrs BC and el kid will love it.

I have a 5 channel radio with switchable 4WS modes too.

I don't have the hop-up dampers and they are way too expensive (unless I win a bit on the lottery) for what is probably little performance gain.

I really want to get cracking on it but will probably wait at least until half term when the boy can get involved, depends on the weather and external factors.

Yeah I am guessing that too. They probably prefer to release the front section on a downward angle instead of pulling it towards the centre section and risk scratching/marking the polycarbonate.

Yes it is a 239mm m-chassis body.

Your mates car sounded nice. A friend of mine had a black S1 when we were young and I remember going on trips up the coast in it. 🙂

@Badcrumble It’ll be a great father & son build by the sounds of it. I’ve watched the Matteo build, he must be getting product gratis, 2 Tamiya brushless systems, reservoir dampers plus txt1 wheels, tyres etc!

Not sure yet, Si. I haven't even decided what I am going to do chassis wise, yet 😊

Just got this old NIB Honda City static kit from 1983. Not an RC but comes with a motor :). And the little Honda Motocampo. The old catalog that came with it is cool too—and seeing that Renault 5 Turbo RC B).

What springs to mind with me is comparison to these old pictures of tamiya rc (R5 turbo included) how fantastic all the models looked? I used to just sit and look for hours at the pictures in the catalogue/guide books you just wanted everyone of them desperately! Roll on today's tamiya official photos........and who in tamiya world thought that this photo was acceptable for the super hotshot??😯

I actually came on this thread to post the fore mentioned super hotshot the postie delivered this week (first week off since last July OMG was it needed even in lockdown a whole week with rc👍) an impulse buy which was definitely not a bargain but a few beers and Ebay and a not very cheap super hotshot was soon at my door and it don't include the gold wheels it just had black egress wheels on it which looked ok but it was built and in mint condition which was a bonus for me because I've built a fair few hotshots and I couldn't be bothered to build another one no window mesh aswell but a stroke of luck after I finished building it the way I wanted it I cleaned out my tool box and a hotshot wire mesh was languishing in the bottom of the toolbox! no idea where that came from?
