Plaza Japan

Plaza Japan - I just love ordering there (even if customs got me this time 😩)

It's also my favourite place to order from. However I do usually end up with things I don't need 😬

Gotta maximise the value of that shipping charge!

Yesterday actually, but it was a busy day so only opened the box this morning

I mainly wanted the body set and the wheels so I expect the chassis will get sold on at some point... the chassis is now listed in the Trades section!

i'd say the starwars one is the RC model but if that answer is the wrong one then the Technic buggy as answer #2. i think i might've had 1-2 technic toys back when i was younger so seeing them in RC is nice. there are even Lego battle bots that you can control...

Slipper clutch, driver figure and 2 piece wheels for the Mountain Rider.

Seems the 2 piece wheels only come with 2 sets… booo… missed that one ! :(

hmm, I'd love to see the shuttle flying, I have seen a custom one on YouTube that looks awesome, once in the air you don't notice the rotors. The buggy comes with some power functions and you control it through your phone, so will give that a go shortly.

sounds like fun to run a different RC style kit. dont think it would break 50KMPH though

Small fry, but found some 0.4mm micron tape locally, so overnight shipping! May give another car a go (or redo the esky) tonight if I'm not too tired 🙂

Yeah same. In the end though I just couldn’t pull myself away from Futaba. I’ve used Futaba since the beginning and it’s always worked without hassle for me and the Flysky Noble although looked great was just to much of an unknown.

How’s it handling @ImALlama?

Unfortunately weather and being a responsible adult has gotten in the way of enjoying life and I haven’t gotten to try it yet. Hopefully this weekend I’ll give it a go and report back

My LWB (5839) NIB.  Was surprised to see the tires are still soft and fresh-like.  No dry rotting.     Going to build this over the holiday weekend.  :D

Two parts, two lessons

Firstly, these 9mm hex hubs. I think these must be new(ish), I've not seen them before and generally used ok(ish) ebay parts for anything over 6mm

spacer.png

I tend to use them on TT-02 builds, where the body set needs a wide stance (eg 911 RSR or 911 GT3 VIP). I can't stand the kit standard plastic axles and dogbones, so always upgrade to metal outdrives / dogbones and then use the long axles (50808). But that still requires slightly hooky ebay hex hubs....until now! They work a treat! And in other news....

spacer.png

The instructions indicate they have been manufactured for this exact purpose, replacing the kit standard plastic hubs on a TT02. AND...that there is a universal assembly that comes WITH a long axle, so not only is it now possible to go full metal drive train on a wide stance TT-02, it's possible to do it with universals too!

That's news to me...if it's old news and I'm just late to the party, then whatever. But consider me happy :)

Next up, this urethane bumper sponge block to whittle some kind of bumper for my M-07 Giulia.

spacer.png

It's described as Touring Car Bumper sponge block, but......it's too thick :( I thought maybe it was a thing that M chassis bumpers are thinner than TC, but no, here is the M07 bumper and a TT02 bumper next to the block

spacer.png

It's too thick for either purpose. I get that you have to cut your own shape out of the block, but to also have to thin it by 30/40% ? That seems a bit bobbins to me. Consider me frustrated :(

@Juhunio Have you tried locally sourcing thicker EVA craft foam for making kids cosplay costumes (like making soft swords, shields, hats, etc)?  Those actually work quite well for bumpers and other uses and sold in different thicknesses.

I buy them in large sheets and use it on many different projects.
