The "Postman Brought Me" Thread

Recommended Posts

An awesome pre-Christmas drop from Sweden courtesy of generous shipping/forwarding help from our very own @fristajlo Thanks man:)

The box of delights contains a Nissan R390 GT1 body set...I'm not generally into Japanese cars / body shells, but there is something about this one so I'm delighted to have tracked one down

Also in there are some cool TA03 parts to Hop Up an R-S and restore a David Jun F-Pro. Or so I thought...

I've not done my research quite fully enough, and fallen into a Tamiya-logic trap. The DJ manual states that the front and rear gearboxes are 50698 and 50699. But where the DJ parts are black, these parts with the same numbers are grey

Looks like Tamiya did two versions of the same part numbers....the front (50698) is easily available in black from Tamico, but the rear (50699)...not so much. Looks like the proper part number is 49111, so the hunt for that now begins...what a doofus

Postman did not bring me this as I had to go to the DO to pay a £42.85 "ransom" to get my first and last order from RCMart. They stupidly state the total amount I paid, which include 20% VAT and postage and then HMRC took this total and added postage on top and charged me duty and VAT on top. So I paid VAT twice on this order.

Cool, is that a polycarbonate body or hard shell?  I'd paint mine yellow for Lupin the Third style.  Although I believe his car is a 500.

I'm more interested in the chassis however..  GL with the build.

It's Lexan, with separate pieces for headlights/taillights and bumpers. All pre-cut, and looks like high quality. It's actually alomst too nice to stick on top of a wheelie chassis.

The chassis design looks great, and they sell a 4WD front axle for it for $55, might try that later. I have a thread started for it already in "other makes," and I'll just make that the build thread as well.

Wasn't expecting this until the new year as was shadow stock but was happy to get it today along with a separate order for metal diff gears. Carson ballrace set arrived a couple of days ago - just checking but I assume they are pre-packed with grease and don't require any further lubrication? Just waiting for the Yeah Racing conversion kit for the steering and rear 4 link suspension.

Good to see that the kit comes with an ESC (may update later) and LED lights.

At least I already have good quality transmitters and should be able to use some of my boat batteries so won't have to buy those. Still got to get some paint though. Chris

Awesome man, thanks for the info.  I’m looking forward to your build thread!

Look up "glass model file" on Aliexpress or something, they can sand/polish plastic to a near glass smooth finish.

Thanks, I use various micro-mesh sticks which work real well for paint repairs.   I wanted something much more coarse.. and it worked as expected when I sanded the new WW2 body to prep this morning.

For me, got these to paint to match the ClubBug!

@alvinlwh that’s odd. I’ve used RCMart multiple times and they’ve always dealt with the duty properly (via the courier/carrier they use). I would chase with both RCMart and HMRC or whoever liberated you of your money!

Well, the pictures of the tax invoice sticker speaks for itself, they just declared the entire sum I paid including tax and postage as the value of the contents. The carrier they used was regular mail, so I don't think I need to say too much about how good or bad Royal Mail is.

Alloy 4 link setup and two 104mm prop shafts (compared to the stock 90mm ones) for my CEN solid axle monster truck. Going to extend the wheelbase by around 1.5 inches, so that it is around the 12 - 12.5inch mark and better suited to some of the Jconcepts bodies 👍.

James.

Well sorry to hear that Alvin, hope you get it sorted soon.

Have a look on e*ay.com. There where these parts often offered…sometimes „cheaper“, sometimes quite expensive. Good luck  :)

Few parts arrived
N3VlrmQ.jpg

A front mid bulkhead for the Samurai, some light buckets (this will be less toyish for the Wild One) and some cable... I still need to print the parts for the wild one, scan decals and cut vinyls, but except this everything is ready so I could start the build...

That being said, I may want to start by a track tool...

Rally cockpit in the mail today. This thing is bigger than expected (again, first time for me with an on road chassis), I'm going to need more paint!

Yeah, I know, I just thought I had got lucky finding the parts in a proper hobby shop at sensible prices. Close, but no cigar...

Still, looking for the positives, at least I know what the correct part number is now! Tip, it's not the one in the manual

Last of the parts ordered arrived this morning, the Yeah Racing Conversion Kit. Parts look very nice but I wish they were anodized in black rather than bling blue. This may influence the colour I paint the body, will see when I've built the chassis.

Got to say I've been impressed with the suppliers, delivery companies and Royal Mail given that I ordered in the run up to Christmas and wasn't really expecting much until the new year.

My eldest son will be building an Escort Custom.

My youngest son a Mercedes AMG GT.

I'll be building a Supra Racing.

All will get ballraces, CVA Shocks, Steering hop up and alloy prop shafts and cups. Otherwise stock, motors and ESC.
