I am (foolishly) building a TA04-R from leftovers and new parts, and these are the rims and tyres specified in the manual :)

I totally did this years ago (2016ish) with a wild willy 2! Unintentionally I'd collected a load of parts for a few wild willy's I was into at the time and as I was looking at all these sprues which I'd purchased just to get the odd thing off them I thought how much can I actually build a whole willy? The drive shafts and wheels are the only things I had to buy the tyre are off an old lunchbox (the battleship grey one is the willy made out of spare bits)

I've done it too, only maybe not quite so successfully as you :)

First time was with a Super Astute, which I thought I could build out of the leftovers from converting my regular Astute back from a Jamie Booth replica.

Second time (I really should have learned my lesson the first time) was to build a stock DN-01 out of a stock DN-01 I had upgraded to a TRF201 (you can see the irony in that I hope)

I won't go into facts and figures, as they are quite disturbing. Let's just say I could have a nice set of implants for the teeth my wife would knock out if she ever knew how much it all cost :)

Yeah, I've priced up the prosthetics I would need to replace my kneecaps...

Excellent:lol::lol:! but when you actually think back I remember having to dig deep into my spare screw box for the actual screws and nuts I needed and actually how much that car cost me:o and I have to quickly get rid of those memories and thoughts because of the mental state it puts me in!

why did you say that??!!! All this time I've been ignoring the accumulated expenses of replenishing my screw and nut collection with vintage NOS items!! My spreadsheet is going to be getting some serious attention now!!!

These are awesome. The only issue is the shocks. Sometimes they just seem to lock up!!! I changed mine but for the life of me I can’t remember what to. Used longer than stock so added new shock brackets. It runs real well on 3s!!!!

Hopefully I will do a test run this afternoon / evening. Currently my daughter has other plans. Otherwise I will do tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I will do some mods on it.

some Astute arms and adjuster ends!!!!!! :):):)

s-l500

Astute B-parts are a rare find these days, especially these later production ones with the extra reinforcing across the rear arms.

A really great find and in good hands !

This Jeep is awesome. Love it. And a more suitable driver is on its way.

Of all the RC’s I’ve got this one really needs a driver. Somehow it looks toylike without but as soon as it has someone behind the wheel (even barbie) it looks real. Get her a some army threads and you’ve got GI Jane!!!

You're absolutely right with it. Looks like a ghost car without a driver.

One quick question. I took the body off the chassis because I wanted to install a different ESC and noticed that the front axle has only three links. Is that standard? I've tried to find clear pictures online but I'm still not sure. Did they forgot to install the fourth link?

A three link is the common design on a scale build where the servo is mounted on the chassis as apposed to being mounted on the actual axle which looks out of place and not very scale like.   In addition, there's always a fourth additional "suspension bar" called a pan hard bar. This is what keeps the front axle from going side to side (lateral movement) when you activate the servo.  Can't really see it in the photo above but usually attaches to only one side of the axle and then the other side of the frame.  The pan hard also needs to be set up in the same direction as the steering servo drag link bar.  Hope this helps.

Mmmmmm...MF-01X

The final (I think) bits for my 4WD M chassis tarmac rally build.

Of course, my planned time off has been cancelled so it now drops further down the project list :(.

The monster trucks get promoted to the top of the queue so I have ordered  servo horns for the monsterised CR-01 and two more servoes for the Mini-Monster.

The CR-01 needs a body but whilst I had some plans (and some Modelsport vouchers), I'm tempted to hold off until we've seen the Monster Jam in June in case we come home with a request like 'can we have one like that..?' Though that would ba an excuse to build the SMT10

Optima Mid, delivered to the UK from Stella Models in Hong Kong within three working days. Doesn't quite beat their record delivery time of ONE whole working day that occured for me in 2006 ......when I paid for a Frog from them late on a Thursday night and the kit arrived the following Monday morning.....but its pretty close. B)

I haven't bought from Stella for a while, mainly due to Brexit, but I'm glad to report that that their packaging standards are still the best in the business by the proverbial mile. Kit was double boxed in two very strong cardboard boxes and masses of air-bubble padding and polystyrene provided.

They even packaged the bonus wing & decal parts in their own box. Astonishing attention to detail.

Not today, but yesterday. After I bought my first lipo a couple of weeks ago the shop had a 15% discount on Gens Ace lipos. Well, nothing else to do than buy to save some money .

I dream about an Optima rere, so then I need another shorty. When we get a week with rain I'll convert my TX to lipo.

This actually came on Saturday! I've been running my turbo Optima only on astroturf so the stunning gold chassis doesn't scratch so I didn't really feel the need for an undertray but I thought I'd give it a go?, (it's not painted white that's the backing film) I'm just leaving it clear because you can't cover up this chassis it looks to good!
