The "Postman Brought Me" Thread

Recommended Posts

I almost did a @Kpowell911 - I had everything in my basket to do a S-Type suspension conversion on my humble TT02... but bottled it. You can easily spend a fortune and some late night WhatsApp messaging to @svenb enlightened me that I would have to change quite a bit more than I was expecting, and that would mean new dogbones or UJ's, dogbones were out of stock, as was the rear carbon damper mount... So yeah, I spent the money buying the remaining bits I need to do an M-05 "Bitsa" Build instead. Cos if there's one thing I need with a 20 model backlog, it's another project

Anyway, enough waffle, I have received another big box from Buyee. Mostly it was air pocket packaging stuff, but I'll take you on a journey...

PXL_20230421_154819571.thumb.jpg.ca20d597ae4f40094e6657aa41d63332.jpg

What's with the weird cats on the box labels?!

First up inside the big green envelope things:

PXL_20230421_154925127.thumb.jpg.3fa5556bef1546246e04bc1e8cc66113.jpg

I was bidding on this whilst walking around the zoo with my family. I thought I was getting a bargain, but due to being short on phone signal I put in my maximum bid and tried not to look at my phone until later. Got it for £25 in the end, which isn't bad for one of these in decent condition. At least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Next bag:

PXL_20230421_155052585.thumb.jpg.34da310a26bd4b20c64878c5c7fe03b2.jpg

Lightly used TRF Dampers "Hard Black Coating" with some NIP option springs. £32, not bad.

Into the first of the boxes:

PXL_20230421_155258710.thumb.jpg.a36eab990d901a0678060a8cc4d5718c.jpg

So I barely remember ordering these, but here we are. I was so frustrated with my Buggy Aeration Dampers I decided to throw £35 at these TT-02B / DF-03 items. At first glance they look almost the same as 53926 DF-03 Aluminium Oil Damper Set, with the exception being the top cap - smooth on the older part number, ribbed (for her pleasure) on these ones

Where's our in-house damper expert @Juls1? He would know of any other differences I'm sure.

And in the final box:

Yeah I've gone down a bit of an M-05 rabbit hole.

The tyre description accurately describes my car park antics - "Works best on Cold Asphalt Surfaces" - sorted!

Don't ask what the servo horn was for, I can't remember now.

For me, Kyoshi Beetle bodies, BL spur gears for the Optima, stabilizer for XV02-Pro, also misc RC tools and stand for my garage along with NiMH AA and charger for my dedicated radio I run outdoors.   Nothing like touching the radio after handling an RC car that drove through who knows what..

Been away for a couple of weeks enjoying the sunshine and coastal paths of North Devon. Back to the real world now, but to soften the blow I returned to a few parcels of joy from the postie

spacer.png

Some tasty F103 bits, black wheels and suspension mounts for two TA04 projects, motor and red adjusters for my red-chassis M05 Mini Cooper Monte Carlo project, a few more TT01 Hop Ups that I'm gradually harvesting for a future project and finally, at last, after 5 months on back order, a second set of Killerbody rims to finish my purple-themed TA03 😃

Picked up a few things for the XV-02 which may or may not have been influenced by certain members here ( @Juls1 & @toyolien ) that had excellent build threads.  Plaza Japan has been both a curse and a blessing and I'm starting to think they really need some sort of loyalty program, but those little erasers will do for now :D

Grab that metal dump truck while you can!

Went ahead and got the dump truck! I originally went back for the M08R but I decided it was too expensive so I ended up with the dump truck, another factory finished Altezza body and lightweight battery holders for my MF-01X

Got my sport tune motor on Friday and have ordered the now correct pinion gear.

I've ordered GH2 front arms from ebay and Cva mini dampers 50746, brackets, brass tubes etc from fusion hobbies last night to sort out the bouncy front end.

I should have waited as my son now wants a tamiya also so trying to decide between a Rising Fighter, Neo Fighter, hornet or Grasshopper 2 🤷‍♂️😂

I’ve got both shock sets, I have not as yet done a measured comparison.

but I believe the change was made to use caps and fittings from the on road dampers. The original units used one off caps on them.

I don’t think the new ones have the same slippery coating, at least not on the outside. The new ones are still very good, I don’t think you’ll be upset with them.

I went for the Hornet, should hopefully arrive sometime this week from Fusion Hobbies. Excellent service from Joanne and the team again, delighted and looking forward to building it. Ordered an 3D printed axle brace also

The postman brought me this week:

20230426_151527

The final pieces to finish my Mid build (turnbuckles).

Road tyres/wheels for XV-01 and now repaired TT-02SR which can then battle for postal laps.

And two big organisey boxes of a thousand little boxes for what should be a satisfying session of putting small things in boxes from which they have half a chance of being rediscovered later. And from which it is to be hoped (perhaps vain hope) they don't migrate here there and everywhere when the organiser is carried about.

Not a very big haul so far. The wheels are for a build I haven't started yet. I have another few batches of parts coming for that one and a few others. The Loctite will be for a similar build, hoping to fix an inherent flaw in some aftermarket components. The desoldering wick is somewhat obvious.

The last one is a piece not related to RC but I'm still very excited about. It's an HDMI converter for my Nintendo 64. Basically, it grabs the signal directly from the processor and graphics chips and outputs it to HDMI rather than the composite outputs. It also adds some other functions like aspect ratios, resultion, color shifting and a bunch of other stuff.

This came in today about 2 weeks sooner than I expected.

They kept coming up on ebay when searching for TA01/TA02 stuff and I couldn't resist.

The carbon is surprisingly nice. A few of the components are 3D printed and seem to be of nice quality. I may be able to fit a shorty LiPo in it.

Now I need to figure out what I'm going to do with it.
