And me

Scary huh

I did get a delivery today just to keep on-topic

These nice carbon bits for my XV-01 after seeing them on @Nicadraus's build:

Make sure to put those blue 0.5mm spacers on top of the steering set bearing. This is to avoid the steering set from rubbing/binding with the carbon fiber.

As seen here: blue spacer on top of the bearing before putting the CF brace on top.

There was no postman involved but today I met up with a very nice man called @Busdriver and acquired this Blitzer Beetle.

I had not appreciated just how marvellous the driver is. He's been through the wars a bit I guess, with that scar 'n all, which is perhaps why he feels the need to wear a German army helmet just to pop down the shops. Mind you, with a 4300kV motor he'll be at those shops in quick time, and not necessarily wheels down.

My plan is to apply the layout, steering and rear toe mods I did to my Falcon and add a box art Stadium Blitzer shell and white wheels. I will probably also design new front lower arms because the Blitzer ones on my Falcon are really jelly-like compared with its now stiff rear arms (and tub) and the mismatch makes it drive a bit funny, I think. Might also do a front hex conversion but I'm not sure, because I do have the bearing wheels. If I don't, then I'd need to think about the front uprights because straight ones don't go with my crank steering. I may see if it's possible to press long Blitzer axles into F103 uprights.

Where the driver will go I'm not sure, but he deserves pride of place behind the wheel of something.

Top man @Busdriver 👍

I have a new built BB with a front and rear hex conversion and 2 sets of buggy wheels and tyres.

My plan is to go back stock, I’m pretty sure the guy told me it was TL01 parts he used and I’m sure I’ve got a NIP F103 uprights.

TL-01 parts for the hex conversion? I'd be interested to see a pic?

I have a few methods up my sleeve to convert. Roughly those in this thread:

But equally, yeah i might try just to convert the uprights to combine long axles with geometry suitable for crank steering. Because in this case stock Blitzer wheels are the right look (and I have them).

It's nice also to have a quick look at a stock built Blitzer to assess again my mods vs stock ref bump steer and other steering issues. My new one is OK on bump steer but lacking in steering angle, because when you mount the tie rods below, to get rid of the bump steer, they hit the arms before you get all that much steering throw. For me, that justifies my decision to mod it. It was my reason last time although I don't think I fully built it. Plus, y'know, I can't not tinker - it's the whole point! 😉

Another nice decal set from MCI to go with the body and wheels that arrived a few days ago.

Now I have everything to convert the Blitzer Beetle to a Stadium Blitzer -- which is why I bought it in the first place.

Anyway, the BB's body shell will reside on my Sand Scorcher -- at least until I can get the SS body painted and finished then I'll find another use for it.

I'm really looking forward to taking the Stadium Blitzer to the park and having some fun.  :)

I just checked my messages and it has TL01 hubs on the front.

Managed to get hold of a box for my Stadium Thunder kit I pieced together in 2022. So now it goes from plastic tub in the loft to Tamiya original 58181 box on top of the wardrobe.

Picked this up from a fellow enthusiast that I met on my Instagram account. After following me for some time and looking at my Tamiya goodies, he decided I needed this for my collection and gave me dibs to purchase at a great deal! I jumped right on it, as I used to dream about owning this very model as a kid. I haven't been concentrating on Tamtech models just yet, so I have no idea how often these come up for sale, but figured this has got everything and just needs some TLC. It's used, with everything put back neatly in the packaging, There's more pics on my IG @tamiyaddiction

Had 3 so far, very much a fan 👍

This arrived at my home today.:

Fighter_6x4_01.thumb.jpg.7288e83b960d4fa79db2a32194e3bf21.jpg

The temptation to drive it was quite imminent, but there where so much crudeness going on in this car.

My biggest motivation to buy this "heap of junk" were the two rear axles. I had a Mad Fighter with a transparent rear axle in the past and had to sell it. Maybe I can save these two here.:

Lifting off the body offered all the crimes that have been committed.:

Fighter_6x4_03.thumb.jpg.783ec1bdf2f899de73c2ccacd81cbd0a.jpg

All types of screws and nuts have been used to abuse this car. From slotted over philips and JIS to hex and torx.:

Although the body seems weird, I guess I can be saved for some interesting project work.:

A hidden gem.:

Little trip to Redfin models today. I needed a servo for the MB-01 as I used what I had intended for it in my 2nd M-05 build. Also picked up some new XT60 connectors, a wee LiPo bag and a servo for an upcoming MF-01X build...

Talking of the MF-01X build, here courtesy of Craftcloud (significantly cheaper than Shapeways) printed in PETG, are the parts as-designed by our very own @Honza

Like others, I probably would have changed strategy if the XM-01 had been announced just a few weeks prior. I've already bought all I need however, so I will continue!

I saw this on ebay.de being a bit of DT-01 fan looking for spares etc, but deemed it "the thing that should not be" and passed on it. :D

Had the Buggy Champ on order for a while.  The 911 GT3 didn't take too long.   Both of these and most of these odd bits I picked up from my LHS today.  The TT02 bearings and prop joints came from Amazon.

What are you plans for the buggy champ? I really like the buggy champ and fighting buggy.

Building it mostly stock and box art with the decals but probably do it in blue.  I did get a ball diff for it  (...because....well, you have to.  B) ).

I've been wanting a Buggy Champ for some time now (although not enough to pay eBay prices before the recent rerelease) and have even gone on record hoping Tamiya would rerelease this nostalgic kit.   Mainly the reason I wanted it was, in my mind, the Buggy Champ and the Sand Scorcher started it all with the hobby grade RC cars.  This will get "gently run" but will mainly sit on the shelf in my office with the SS.

As for the Fighting Buggy, I tried my best to like it but I just can't wrap my head around a mono-shock that's used for two opposing sides of a car.  Just a physics thing in my head.

Sorry missed this reply the other day buddy. You've had 3! Ha, brilliant! Have they all survived?

I have this one and Stadium Blitzer parted up together in a tub, both destined for the shelf. I have a used Blitzer Beetle in pieces I'm going to build up this year and run it with the Beetle shell from my Monster Beetle (which is stickered up with the Blitzer Beetle stickers anyway) and a set of the yellow Thunder wheels - will go better with the neon, toxic stickers than the orange wheels I reckon. Also have a spare Stadium Blitzer shell, so might paint that up to run as well, as it's the coolest of the 3 imo.

Haha, amazing, what a nuts little conversion!🤪 It's like genius and abomination went out for a beer, had too many and came home driving that, which they promptly 'parked' in the front room of regret.

Should be fun to tinker with👍👍
