The "Postman Brought Me" Thread

Recommended Posts

Pitched up yesterday, sadly the box got crushed in transit and the shell has been damaged - repairable just a shame it got to this ripe old age unscathed until now -

In all the duck based excitement on Friday I forgot to post the rest of the order. Mainly DB-01 bits, I just need to decide on a paint scheme now, something bright I think.

Really interested to see how you get on...so I can learn from your mistakes and buy one myself at some point...

@Tamiyastef - good choice on the Porsche (an all-time favourite, but I'd love to see an earlier one without a wing or why not a Targa?) - but I wanted to ask you - do you happen to be one of those who like to flip through a paper version of the manual? :)

Yes I am. I've seen it online but for the (re)building process I really like the paper one. On my phone it's to fiddly and a laptop on my workbench will be covered in oil, water or knocked down or hit by a really hot soldering iron or whatever it takes to get it out of action. A paper manual with an oil stain or a small hole burnt in it still functions

Guess I'm showing my age but when you wait long enough Oldschool is cool again :D

Well, I really enjoy flipping through them, too. Almost on the verge of starting a small collection, but that would be a bit crazy ... :D

Not necessarily 😬 I too think paper manuals are really awesome. I have a few on my bookshelf actually and I enjoy flipping through them too 😅

I actually have the manuals for my most used cars on the workbench. There I note things like current pinion, shock oil, diff oil and now that I have a setup station I should start noting the different angles on the axles.

My favourite part of prepping a bodyshell… do I trust the dimple marks when my body posts look a couple of mm out 😂

I need a new reamer this one is as blunt as a spoon!

sharpen it. Flat surface and very fine grit sandpaper will do the trick :)

Never even crossed my mind to try that, I knew it was a good idea to get back onto TC, thanks.

Progress helped by a very warm conservatory acting as an oven to dry paint - my daughter instructed me to use the metallic green 🎨

I think @Kowalski86 needs one

I've actually been debating on getting one of those just to try out one of Tamiyas educational kits.
