The "Postman Brought Me" Thread

Recommended Posts

So to say Ive been out of love with the hobby is an understatement. If someone made me an offer for everything (37 models) and came to collect they could have everything from my NIB 90s Tamiya’s to my XRT/Xmaxx’s. But hey.

As with everything a bit of a story. Im in my 30s, but me and my Dad still share an eBay account. He buys and sells a lot, I buy and sell a lot. When he is selling lots, I just turn notifications off and ignore the app. Honestly. We had a little family holiday a week or so ago, and I had some down time. I flicked on eBay, made an offer on something and closed the app and that was that. That was the 17th July. Fast forward to today. We popped (I say Pop, its 40 miles) over to see my parents. When I got there, my Dad said your parcels here…… cue my girlfriends face giving me a dirty look. Genuinely no idea. Turned out my offer had been accepted, used some paypal funds that were in my account and the whole thing was paid for, posted and delivered GENUINELY with no knowledge from me. EBay must auto pay offers now? Anyway.

Its a dusty humble M-01 Mini. Its missing a bumper, which Ill never ever get I know but I hate having a NIB without a shelfer so this will do :)

JZLeJqu.jpeg

it came with Arrma Electronics installed, which Im going to sell. The original Acoms and MSC is included too so Ill refit that

It looked like it had some parts missing but it was all there

FgPHh52.jpeg

AeGD3lu.jpeg

Even better was the original bumper WAS included it was just broken. Simple glue fix and this will look fine for the shelf. I was over the moon with this!

With my NIB

9lqIfRb.jpeg

It also came with this ABC Hobby Mini Pick Up shell.

WZPA9kk.jpeg

If I can sell this and the Arrma electronics ill be WELL UNDER £100 for a very acceptable shelfer M-01. Once Ive glued the bumper

Interested in the results here, are any of these sensored?

I tried the surpass ones in the Nikko and they were a little bit better when it comes to cogging on 2s. Didn't try 3s yet (the wltoys ones cogged a lot on 3s for some reason, even though people usually say more volts improves the issue.)

To be fair to both types, I think in this particular application, the car is really heavy and the gearing fairly tall so it's like a worst case scenario. I'm pretty sure if I could adjust the gearing slightly on the Nikko, it would be a lot better.

I tried both in  DT-02 and they were much better in that on 2s. Havent tried either on 3s in a lighter/lower geared vehicle.

I just put the Hobbwing ESCs in, but I put some hobbywing motors in, too, so not a like for like comparison. The hobbywing esc/motor combo is superbly smooth though, even in the heavy nikko, but the components are over 2x the price, so it's to be expected.

Would be interesting to see how the hobby wing does with the cheaper motors, and how the cheaper ESCs do with the hobbywing motors.

Only cheap FDM prints, but I'm hoping using them in combination might at least allow some mild running.

Can you guess what they are for?

Said car I got in a lot with a Nikko and a Kyosho way back in 2016 or 2017 and it had the typical breakages, It has been sat on a shelf waiting all this time. Hopefully I can get it up and running soon!

Good shout, I’m thinking Blitzer Beetle which is the same chassis.

Blitzer Beetle

Good guess but IIRC (I met my now wife more than 35 years ago and the last time I saw a Tamiya Falcon in real life was before that) the blitzer is a bit wider at the front than the Falcon. If anyone has both and could compare?

I’d been waiting for this for a couple of weeks since ordering from OZRC in Brisbane. A bit weird that ‘It’s on its way’ notification never came. So Monday I gave them a call, (late afternoon) turns out they were waiting for the MST wheels I originally ordered to come into stock. With that they offered me some more expensive adjustable DS Element wheels instead at no additional cost. Arrived today at my door this morning 😃. Excellent service I thought.

IMG_8233.jpeg

Sensor wires, coloured clips so they are easier to see on black chassis’s for battery retainers etc, masking tape, wheels to run 26mm tyres all round on a TA02 Porsche & Street Scorcher plus a Brushless motor for the XM-01, and a sticker.

Lots of bits and bobs now to keep me busy adding this to other deliveries.

Got a new shipment of packing material!

A1K7isl.jpeg

Oh, wait. There was some stuff there. Few Mini-z bodies and an AWD ma020, Kyosho Spider 4wd and Associeted B4. The Spider came with Dynatech 02H. I believe it's worth something?

I don't know why, but I fell for this Fox on eBay. Delivered today. Good or garbage? Who knows. I'm looking forward to disassembling, cleaning, and ordering some replacement parts. I've never had one, but the original has always been something I liked. Probably a fall/winter project.  I love the box it was delivered in.... what might work, what might not work, why is there a rag in a solo cup, loose change.... Good stuff.

As usual, ordered some bits and realised I need more a day later. Anyhow, from RCM, a small order.

9lNAiwa.jpg

Cheap alternative for Green Slime, Xtra Speed shocks to try out (don't, they are not that good), YR steering turnbuckle for WR-02G (turns out they are for the CB and too long for G) and a large T wrench (did not read the description carefully, this is for 5.5, 7, 8, 10 & 17mm).

Had a bit of a splooge this month. Due to FedEx's entertaining shipping routes and packages sunbathing in Paris for a week or so, they all arrived at once even though they all shipped weeks apart lol

DB01 Built bundle from Japan - couldn't resist this, near mint, hopped up to the eyeballs (i think all of them, even ones on there not listed in the ad) RR Spec effectively, Brushless 10.5T Motor, ESC, Servo, bundles of unused hopups, spares etc. It's awesome. Dont have any batteries with a Deans (I think it's deans) connector annoyingly so I'm heading to SC Models in the morning to go shopping!

TD4 Super Avante and Ko Propo EX-NEXT LDT, after trying a ko propo with a lay down trigger, it was sooooo much more comfortable for me and had so much more control, tried for ages to find one for sale in the UK (importing one was expensive), a new one turned up with 2 x receivers, couldn't say no. The TD4 was a bargain from japan, about £150 inc shipping.

From Japan via Amazon

Nice, have you bought much else with Amazon? Just never really had a lot of RC stock when I used to look in the past, and was a real pita for a few other bits & pieces we did buy. My wife bought something once and unbeknown to us at the time you apparently had to tick a small box not to subscribe to something or other, took ages to work out 6 months later chasing up an abnormal payment going out.

@Re-Bugged I think this is the first thing I’ve bought. my Mrs has used it before, we are Prime subscribers for TV. @Mirrorman posted the link in the specific re-re thread and the deal was too good to pass up as I had planned on 1 at some stage. It completes the big 4 from back in the day. Avante, CAT XLS, Turbo MID SE and now 870c.

2 new pinions turned up yesterday 1 for the XV-01 and 1 for the XV-01T, just kept it simple with a 21 & 22T.

There isn’t any spare time for RC this month or cash, so this helps feel like I’m still involved in the hobby, which I’m good with.

A small delivery from Plaza. Not as big of a saving as a couple of months ago but still just about worth it.

A set of shocks for the TT-02sr

fFdgNJT.jpeg

And some more parts for rapidly nonsensical DB-01 build.

I am building Tamiya trucks for some years now but recently got strong interest into RC cars as well. So what would be better to start with the recently (today) released Avante 2011 rerun. As I currently live in Japan, the price is decent and today is release day. Hope everyone who ordered also one gets his one also soon.
