Parts for my pre-ordered Super Astute today....

Ooh. Where did you order from? I see it on Modelsport for £239. Not sure what ultimate price expectation is but I understand they were pricey last time, in which case I might just go ahead for round about that money.

I saw on another thread you're doing a Stadium Blitzer? Box art? You'll hopefully be a better painter than me - I found some of the masking very difficult in the nooks and crannies around the bed and roll bar. It's doable much better than I did though. Take your time! 😉

I was surprised how cheap they are to be honest. I wasn't back in the hobby in 2018, but some Google searches have prices of £265ish? I was expecting close to £300 so £235ish is a nice surprise B)

I've ordered via Neil at Time Tunnel Models, as I usually do if I pre-order anything. Its £234:

Yes just waiting on the MCI decals to arrive then painting probably box art yes, although my last few bodyshells have only just about come out ok.

I do need to wait longer between coats and not spray too much each coat as the can freezes up and paint comes out dry like cotton wool fuzz 🥴

Lets see your Stadium Blitzer please, which chassis is yours on, an original?

Ah. Thank you. I may well do the same but I'll save it up as a reward to myself for something I need motivation for.

Mine's in pieces unfinished and been a bit overtaken on the to do list. A used Blitzer Beetle that I want to make a few mods to on reassembly. They're mods I've done to my other one that's a Falcon (kinda) - bell crank steering, some internal chassis strengthening, rear suspension mount braces, rear toe in uprights and I'll probably mess with the shocks a bit to increase droop. I have the same shell and stickers as you have. I'm halfway through the stickers but have done nearly nothing to the chassis so far.

You should just put those stickers on your upcoming Blitza' and drive the wheels off it ... :D

I gathered bits and pieces from around the house yesterday trying out some shenangans for a "stadium truck" thing, and borrowed the Socky body for the experiment. I can see why the previous owner just painted it in white and put all the stickers on. Which in itself is an art, since it has all those aforementioned nooks and crannies. Two options came to mind for the rollbar: permanent marker (from the inside, don't know if that works out?) or brush paint (can one brush paint lexan?) but I guess I'll have to do the masking job - no way past it. Except making a "RC10CC" edition ... :D

Yeah looking at an example on EBay right now it looks tricky, is that a thin black decal between the roll bar and roof or is it painted?

This photo shows what looks like a plastic piece used for rear body post bracing or support?

The black is painted on in front of the roll cage - mine has no decals there. The plastic is some sort of clip protector I assume. The body posts on mine are sitting further back, on the rear bar of the cage, but that is a different chassis (CR-01).

I don't see why this shell would need this protection more than any other, although it's not a bad idea. It might be more discreet just to stick a little unpainted lexan disc around each hole?

Yeah that's painted as @JimBear says and that's a difficult bit to mask well. I painted black then silver then white, which meant a large area of masking but also the rim of the bed around the back is a fairly tricky recess to mask. I wonder whether painting white first then silver then black, because silver is sometimes used to back white anyway, might have been easier. But as I said I'm not a very good painter so take that with a pinch of salt!

Mine won't be better than that ebay example but I will try to photograph it in its current state later.

The rear body mounting area is prone to getting damaged.

I guess it is a lot of lexan beyond that point, and if you get into a crash (one never does, right?) it seems pretty vulnerable. The body posts for the CR-01 are much further back.

Heavy landings on the roof and the rear bed getting caught cause most of the additional damage.
Basically general heavy handed, hooning around 😳

Yeah I’ll wait for the decals to arrive first then plan the attack, they shipped from Canada to UK today.

@Grumpy pants yes I’ve seen a few damaged at the rear post holes 😰

After searching patiently for about a year, I finally found the M03 parts I was looking for. I also bought a few PS paints for future projects.

I was surprised myself to find them in a local hobby shop. Maybe I'll try the lottery tomorrow. 🙂
