Got an absolute mint early edition Grasshopper, with original chassis before the mold was modified for the Hornet.

I couldn't help myself. It looks cute and I am going to need something to play with during my recovery. I'm having surgery on the 18th to remove a brain tumor discovered back in November. Turns out the blasted thing has been hiding in there at least 30 years. Talk about living rent free inside my head. Anyway, I present to you....a little Fiat!

Seems time to kick it out. Gently. Have it removed by some highly skilled people sounds like a good plan.

Then you have time to focus on the lovely Fiat.

Wish you a successful surgery and quick full recovery. All the best!

My thoughts are with you my friend.

As I've mentioned before my little sister-in-law/foster daughter had a brain tumour removed last August. They reckon hers had been there a good long time too. Thankfully they don't recognize squatters rights for tumours so they forcibly evicted it and she's recovering well. I'm sure your marshals/surgeons will be just as effective 👍

Keep us updated on your recovery bud - wishing you a very full and speedy recovery

I don't tend to post much of what I get here, but I was pretty chuffed with today's arrival, so I thought I'd share. One of my customers came in and had been working the last few weeks doing some sort of telephone communications installation in the outback. He came across a box with some RC bits in that had been dumped and figured I'd probably be interested in it.

So first off, a Mitsubishi TL-01 in reasonable condition. The body has only a couple if minor cracks and the chassis, while dirty, doesn't look too abused

What-Have-I-been-doing-25-02-10-6.jpeg

there was also a Audi BTCC shell, and the Lancer manual

What-Have-I-been-doing-25-02-10-12.jpeg

This will need correcting!

What-Have-I-been-doing-25-02-10-13.jpeg

a el-cheapo drifter

What-Have-I-been-doing-25-02-10-14.jpeg

and lastly what looks to be a  Kyosho STP Taisan Porsche GT2 - SuperTen GP 4WD. Not too sure what to do with this one. I wasn't into nitro, but I think this would be a good project.

And now for something. Well kind of different. Its clear Ive been collecting 90s Tamiya touring cars. Most of this comes from the Tamiya Catalogues I had as kid. The rest is from Gran Turismo. That means a lot of 90s Japanese stuff.

I think they liveries are stunning! I have no issue having multiple of the same body shell, but with different livery, but Im getting a bit bored of the same Touring car Chassis’……

Theres 3 “grails” to me. The Penzoil R34 GTR, The Castrol TOMs Supra GT, which I have and the Raybrig NSX 99. This is available on the TA-03R Chassis. Its obtainable NIB but expensive but I want it built. Im also fed up of the same chassis’ (I have 2x TA-03s…..)

Soooo lets go for a “similar” body set. But on a Chassis Ive never even touched before

#44013. TAMIYA TG10 Nitro!
42wiccu.jpeg

Thanks to @53HRA for finding it for what I think was a great price. Its built in mint condition but the bodyshell isnt finished….. wish me luck…..

Ill get better pictures when I get chance but its great to own something Ive never owned before, especially when its 26 years old!

I got this a few weeks ago from Rinskie here on TC.   Got bearings and Deans connector already soldered onto the ESC.  This build, when I get around to it will start out as a shelf queen (after a driveway run or two ;) ) and then wait till my nephew's son is old enough to enjoy a hobby quality RC.  I have a few RTR take-off transmitter/receivers I can toss in so we can drive together some day.

Thanks again, @Rinskie !

Good Evening!

Just got another occasion I couldn't let pass ...

A cute little Lunchbox

LUNCHBOX01.thumb.jpg.16eb4ff8b1696e92ff951ed618dbbad2.jpg

I Love the look!

LUNCHBOX02.thumb.jpg.0cc2e2cb50fd2f87d95efbbf4739ed85.jpg

It came with some additions like an already mounted servo ...

LUNCHBOX03.thumb.jpg.97097dc0a033078f72cf9d305f9e7e1d.jpg

... a 3D printed goodie for the rear axle ...

LUNCHBOX04.thumb.jpg.166419e22f38619935b460919adcbc01.jpg

... and a bit of aluminum.

LUNCHBOX05.thumb.jpg.e3a926a3c2b8fbb415a826e807776e9c.jpg

I am asking myself, if this may have been a XB Lunchbox?

LUNCHBOX06.thumb.jpg.1473e3e8a89d6a2d8c0e2b202361d37f.jpg

The livery seems to be to "perfect" for an average model builder too.

LUNCHBOX07.thumb.jpg.5dbe270d77f5fc136fb0a4852e2e20c1.jpg

All in all for 50 bucks ain't too bad.

I took one look at the window surrounds and thought, Sweet XB paint job!

Great score!

Oj. You want it to be even more slidable, I see.

I have not installed the center diff yet (I have it inventory), but mine is really agile with 39t on the diffs.

Thought Id show this off. Truth be told this is what I bought this for. The bodyshell and decals. Turns out theres a few purple Raybrig NSXs and this is the 1998 version. Id have been 11 years old a nitro RC wouldve been so alien and unobtainable to me. Turns out The 1999 on the TA03R is a lot different too this (so Ill still hunt for one, but theres no time scale.

Not perfect, but its nearly 27 years old remember!

Mint decals and masks!

Now look at this time capsule! I think the wheels may be wrong and the tyres are wrong as they should be slicks (if anyone can confirm).

Muffler exiting out the bottom is so cool!

However imagine the issue non countersunk screws would have caused back in the day!

Gran Turismo or what?!?

Oh yes, sliding is great fun, both with the XV02 and the XM01. 🙂 In my XM01 I already have the 40t diff in the rear (39t center and front) and I like it very much. And that's what I want to do in the XV02 and then compare the driving behavior. Snow is forecast for tomorrow and the day after, could be a good opportunity to let my rally cars slide. 😎

I finally have a Hornet Evo, but I don't get to open it until my birthday late May.

58742-Hornet-Evo-1.jpeg

But thats ok, I have this to restore. Managed to find a Marui Super Wheelie in pretty good condition. While I do my Marui Mitsubishi kit, I have been after an actual one to compare against. The only real issue is that while the tires aren't split, but they are quite hard. Bonus too is that it came with a whole lot of bits that wasn't shown in the listing. I'm really happy with the condition and it's only missing a couple of pieces (and driver), but I'll be able to 3D print those.

So this is the 4th RC car I got this week  to be fair, 2 where given to me, but I will be done getting any more for quite some time I think. Although I would still like to get a Honda City at some stage!

My upcoming 956 build may have crossed the Rubicon of madness.

9CNHw7a.jpeg

Much like when I’ve brought the big bore buggy shocks this was more out of interest to see what they’re like rather than in any hope that they’ll improve anything. They certainly won’t with my driving! Luckily, the Group-C chassis uses a relatively small number of bearings so I could give them a try.

Thanks to this mini pipe cutter, I am now able to trim body mounts gracefully. The cuts look almost like they've just come out of the factory. This method is far superior to any other method I've tried. As is often the case, the tip came from the Tamiya forum. Thank you very much!
