rajicon 0 Posted November 23, 2007 Ta - mi - ya In Japanese it is written タミヤ (or in hiragana ãŸã¿ã‚„) The three characters are pronounced Ta-mi-ya (nearly every japanese character when translate into english is a combination of consonant and vowel). It is all said with the same tone and no rising inclanations. *to see the japanese characters you will need to have the character encoding (for firefox its in the view tab) set on Japanese Shift_JIS
Tamiya1/10 382 Posted November 23, 2007 Here Tamiya is too difficult to pronounce, we just call it "Twin Star" or "Double Star" . And how do you spell Tamiya? Gottohaveit. What better way to find out, just ask our TC members from Japan.
Metla 0 Posted November 24, 2007 Just watch a couple of the Tamiya adverts, There are a heap hosted on this very site, The commentator says Tamiya multiple times in English. I noticed because it means the way I pronounce it is so wrong that if I went to the Tamiya factory, went to the front door and asked if this was Tamiya they would say what did he say?, never heard of the place. terry.sc 16 Posted November 24, 2007 For the definitive answer, especially as the old american voiceover didn't get it right, over at http://www.rctvlive.com they asked Tamiya themselves at 20 minutes into RCTV708. Corpse Thrower 16 Posted November 24, 2007 So is it Ta-meeeeea? Or Tammy-AARRRRRGH!!! I've always pronounced it Tammy-ARRRRRGH!!!
Rabiedmushroom 2 Posted November 24, 2007 We need to ask Netsmith how they pronounced it at Tamiya HQ when he dropped the TC car off recently. Personally I've always referred to it as Tam-eee-ya but its probably wrong!
richard.tufty 24 Posted November 24, 2007 I think it depends on where you live. I'm from the UK and say Tamee-uh, however I'm living in the US at present and all my friends out here pronounce it Tum-eye-ah. Either way, it means the same thing, Spend More Money! Mad Ax 10847 Posted November 26, 2007 I have always pronounced it "Tamiya" But I know some people who say "Tamiya" instead And one time I was in the LHS and a foreign guy came in asking for a "Tamiya", we didn't know what he was talking about for ages, until he pronounced it slightly differently by saying "Tamiya" - and then we said "Oh, you mean Tamiya!" It's like some people say Tomato and some Tomato; some say Potato and some Potato. You're right, this thread does make no sense...
