Hi all,

Can any body tell me if and where I can get some new lights (LED's) for the MFC-01 unit, I've look all over the net but can't find anything. Your help would be much appreciated.

I would be interested in the answer, for example is there a set type or limit to the amount of additional light you could add e.g. running light as well as the top lights

Thanks

If you need replacements, The LED lights packaged for use with the TLU-01 and TLU-02 have the same plug as the ones used on the MFC-01. if you want to upgrade, you can just solder in some brighter LED's found on Ebay

Hi Shoedog, the plug is not the same, I have got some from the TLU-01 kit and the plug is bigger and a different shape.

The plugs used on the TLU01 are made by JST and are the PH connector range.

For those who wish to make additional lights up, the parts can be obtained from Farnell for instance. Farnell's order codes are as below.

Housing Part Number 3616186 http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/50460.pdf

Crimp Connector Part Number 3617210

You would need a suitable crimp tool as well or be very dexterous with a pair of pliers.

If someone can put a detailed picture and some dimensions of the connectors used on the MFC-02 then I'm sure they could be easily identified and sourced.

Great tip there Mr Mud :D. Especially for those of us with access to acount facilities at Farnell`s et all.

Can you recommend any suitable LED`s 3 or 5mm from Farnells as well? For use with the TLU01 and maybe some home/work made looms?

Your right, I double checked and they are different. Kinda lame of tamiya, I can't imagine why they would make them different

There are two sellers on ebay I can recommend, itl-e and goodwillsales. They both have information to make a good choice, ie, voltage and viewing angle.

Yes, it did get a bit diverted didn't it. But as previously mentioned in my original post yesterday, (without any forthcoming answers) if someone can post a detailed picture up with dimensions, then they can be identified and the answer found.
