well, I'm in Seattle...

but more importantly, where in Seattle will you be in?

Near the Sea-Tac airport is the Southcenter area and they have Hobbytown USA there..

Not too far from the airport as well: Burien Toyota in Burien, sells mainly Tamiya r/c. Store close on Sundays.

East of Seattle/Redmond: Hobby town USA

far Southeast from Seattle in Issaquah: Atomic Hobby, sells mainly Tamiya and HPI r/c stuff

Seattle:

International district/China Town: International model & toys: sells model kits

North Seattle:

Ballard area: R/C Source... I never visit it before.

Lynwood area: Galaxy Hobby... Tamiya stuff

I'd have no idea if there's actually a r/c shop in downtown Seattle itself.

There used to be a really cool shop in Queen Ann hill but its long gone. I would definately suggest a trip to Galaxy Hobby in Lynnwood.

I missed the "other places to visit". Lots to do in Seattle. The Space Needle is pretty cool and if your a Jimi Hendrix fan, there is a tribute to him on the same grounds. The zoo isn't bad, lots of sports options, the science center, etc etc. Once you get there just start asking around. People are very friendly and will be more than helpful I'm sure.

should I, should I not.... heck...

Mervyn, where u at in seattle?

anyways, for other places to visit...

Space Needle is nice...

-want to see some diversity? capitol hill is nice.

-like hiking? Mt. Rainier is wonderful (though I'd hardly suggest it in fall..)

-Like to ride boats? grab a ferry to one of the many islands..

-Love Japanese books/music? Kinokuniya bookstore

-Buffet style dining: Todai (Bellevue and downtown Seattle), Foody Goody (Renton, near airport).

-want to visit Microsoft for any reason (that is, bombing, sight-seeing, etc...)? Go to Redmond, not far from Bellevue).

-interested in aircraft? Musseum of Flight(or something like it) in Renton area.

and many more I can't name off the top of my head.

depend on when you'll be around...won't be free the rest of the month it seems, specially with family gathering and stuff from 23 onward...

Rain City RC raceway in Lynnwood. It's the local indoor carpet track, there is racing on Wednesday, Friday & Saturday.

Burien Toyota is the primer Tamiya dealer around. They race every other Sunday.

Atomic Hobbies is the other Tamiya place, but he is a little expensive. He races every other Saturday night.

Bring your stuff & come on out!

My sister inlaw lives in Seattle and back in March we visited. I hit every hobby shop up there. If your thinking about finding a cache of vintage parts, you will be dissapointed. I would say don't waste your time on hobby shops, waste it on the sights there.

If you are looking for a good Seafood restuarant, go to Ivars. I was there in '96 and it was bar-none one of the best places that I've been to eat. I am not sure if there are multiple locations, but we ate at the one on the board-walk.

Have fun...
