Was It Just My Computer Or Was The Site Down Today?

It is most probably because I am viewing the website though a proxy but I can't submit changed to models ect...

I am sure it will work fine when I try it at home.

Ok, seven days have been added to everyone's account to compensate for downtime.

If you check you own TC frontpage (the 'about me' one) you'll notice the subscription date is now one week after the date you last subscribed on Paypal.

You can confirm this by looking through your paypal history, one week before date shown on TC.

So, if C frontpage says 14-04-07, look at 07-04-07 and you should see the subs to TC

So, Backlash, your subs are now payable on the 18 Jan each year, not the 11th :)

If there's any problems for anyone, please PM me via the forums and we'll work to get it sorted.

Cheers Twinset,

I just logged into the site, and my subscriber status has not returned...

I will transfer some cash into my paypal account today, and then pay my 2008 subscription tonite when I get home. Hopefully this will return me to my "subscriber" status, and allow me to access my showroom..

Backlash.

Hi

Apologies for dragging this topic back up and I apologise if i am wrong, but i thought i last updated my membership on the 29th of jan last year.

I have just had my subscription reminder email and i can no longer access my showroom etc.

I have just checked paypal and i did pay my subscription on 29th jan 2007.

I know its only a week, but if it has been promised it would be good for it to be implemented?

Please let me know if it is possible or not to restore my account. If not i will pay it again this evening instead of next week

Thanks

Clyde

It's being looked into, please bear with us - soon as I know anything new, so will you guys.

On a plus side, there are plans afoot to inform the mods that the site is down without them having to access TC to find out.

Apparently emails and texts will be fired off in several different directions if the site goes down.

Okay, it looks like the problem is with Paypal.

Chris has changed the renewal dates in the clubs database, so everyone gets the extra week. Unfortunately Paypal is still set at the dates, and there's nothing that can be done to alter it unless the subscriptions are all deleted and started again when the time comes for renewal. So when the renewal comes through it now serves as a reminder that your subscription will run out in 7 days time, rather than it needs renewing immediately.

There's still a problem with Paypal resetting the dates to the date the payment was made, so please wait until the new renewal date stated in the reminder email you will receive before making the payment to make sure you get the extra 7 days. By delaying the subscription payment until the date your TC subscription actually runs out it will make sure the Paypal subscription renewal will coincide with the TC renewal date next year. If you pay immediately next year Paypal will again want the subscription renewal 7 days before your TC subscription runs out. You don't lose out as your TC subscription still runs for the same number of days, it just doesn't coincide with Paypals renewals :D

Quote from Chris,

I put my hands up and say because of the way this works there will be a few people that have lost out. Don't get me wrong I'm not making light of any of this - and for those that really feel they have lost out they should just let me know and I will credit either their days or refund some money - it works out to 4.1p a day. All the need to do is send me their last subscription payment ID and I'll look into it (That said paypal will take the first 25p of any payment I make to them)

Quote from Chris,

So Terry, what you are saying then is that Paypal sends out the email to remind us that we need to re-subscribe.. So is Paypal is also responsible for locking us out of our showroom at that time??

I think what the issue is here is that we did not actually get the extra 7 days as promised.. I know I certainly didnt, I was locked out of my showroom on the 11th, and even after being "given" the extra 7 days (taking me to the 18th), I could not access my showroom until I paid my subscription.. From Misterclydes post, it seems that he has the same problem..

Cheers

To quote from Chris:

Basically paypal will reset the dates on the club and on paypal to the date of the actual payment. I can only think that is what happened with backlash. His account officially ran out on the 11th (and he would have got a reminder) About a day later I ran the process which credited people with extra days. So his renewal date went up to 18th, but he actually renewed on the 14th so his subscription payment was then set to run from that day 14/1/08 until 14/1/09.

:endquote.

If there are problems please contact chris@tamiyaclub.com. In your case you were locked out of your showroom because the extended days didn't get credited to everyone's showrooms until the 12th, the day after your subscription ran out. Chris will happily refund the 29p owed or give you extra days credit next year.

Just like to say I appreciate all the efforts Twinset, Terry.sc, and anyone else -including Chris- are going thru to keep TC up and running.

After all it is a voluntary effort basically, and dealing with all the issues big or small takes some time and diligence.

Thanks guys! :D:lol::lol:

Personally I am not concerned with a few days extension to subscription etc. The cost of subing can hardly be an issue considering how most of us fork out for parts and other items. We buy screwdrivers just because they have a Tamiya logo for goodness sake!

Cheers chap :D

I'd just like to say though, I've never bought a screwdriver because it had a Tamiya logo on it but my side-cutters are black n yella

As for the seven days, there will be some people that'll not benefit until next time their subs are due, and basically need to regard their 'you need to pay' email as 'you need to pay in seven days'.

For those that missed out, if they don't subscribe next time, they'll get seven extra days at the end of their period, or can have their 28p refunded now.

After that post mid-January it looked like it was sorted - wasn't until Clyde posted that it turned out it didn't - sorry about that

Personally I couldnt care less about the extra week. The point I was trying to make, and its the same point that many others have also tried to make, is that if Chris or Tamiyaclub is going to offer something, then make it happen...

We buy screwdrivers just because they have a Tamiya logo for goodness sake!

All my screwdrivers have Stanley written on them, and the only tools I own that have anything RC related on it is my allen drivers which are HUDY. I dont buy tools (or parts) just for a fancy logo, I buy what I consider to be good quality, and what will do the job.

Chris will happily refund the 29p owed or give you extra days credit next year.

I'm really not sure on how to take this answer... Are you being serious, or a smart alec?? (And yes, I really would have liked to use a different word other then alec here.)

Terry, While everyone here at Tamiyaclub appreciates what you, Twinset and any others are doing for Tamiyaclub, I am starting to understand why so many long term members are no longer subscribing, or are just leaving all together..

At the time, it seemed it was easy to manipulate dates on TC, in order to create the extra seven days, unfortunately that wasn't the case, as Clyde pointed out.

What has been put into place now does 'create' the extra days, providing you don't re-subscribe until seven days after the reminder - effectively a seven day notice period.

You, unfortunately won't see the benefit until the end of your current subscription which will now last for 372 days.

Because of that, the offer of a pro-rata reimbursement is all that can be done if you want the seven days effectively creditted back to you, thus honouring the promise to a fair degree.

Guest joelvardy

it seems that on your profile you now have the date you last subscribed..

This is great as before I had to ask Chris to find out.

I checked and my date has had 7 days added on

Thanks for all the effort you guys put in!
