Gee, I'm impressed with all the aluminium that comes with the box semi-trailer. I would like to spray the fluted aluminium siding and roof top to replicate a North American trailer. So I guess I'd need to prime the aluminium sheet and spray with a (few cans!!) of TS. I use Tamiya primer.

Is the primer likely to sufficiently bite into the aluminium? I'd hate to spray the trailer and find the paint falls off. Dohhhhhhh.

Comments appreciated!

I’m going to be painting my box trailer shortly and was just planning on rubbing down all the surfaces with a very light grade then coating the whole thing in an etch primer the same as I use on the full size cars before applying the top coats.

Someone might have a better Idea but that just my thoughts

Yes powdercoating would be the best way but I believe the item needs to be on a hook for cotaing and baking, so this may be difficult in this instance.

Why do I pick all the hard jobs? :)

I think if you roughen up the surface with a fine grid sandpaper, clean it and apply the primer before painting should be fine.

Power coating is nice, but expensive? and will the screw holes crack after the screws are put in?
