hi

i have just bought a dualhunter as it would have cost loads to make my blackfoot extreme 4wd.

i have a e-savage twin motor ,twin battery esc,and was wondering if 2 600 can motors can be fitted to the chassis.they have the same bolt pattern as 540's.

i have also purchased a twin battery chassis[alloy] from germany.

if the 600's wont fit, what is the next best thing? emaxx 550's ,esavage 550's or maybe something else like a couple of tamiya bz's.

also i have purchased 2x20t pinions

Is this the same chassis as the Twin Detonator? If so, I think that you might have a little trouble with 600 motors, as the standard motors sit inside the chassis next to the gearbox with limited clearance. However, if you are getting a replacement ali chassis they would probably be fine. I run the Mag Mayhem motors in my Twin Det, but they aren't made any more.

I would think that the Ezilla/ESavage motors would be good for this truck, but you might want to consider motors where you can adjust the timing, as one of the motors is going to be running in reverse, whereas the ESavage motors are designed to run forwards and might not be as efficient when going backwards. I had a friend who fitted some decent 19 turn motors to a Twin Detonator, and it was slow because one of the motors was dragging the other one down.

The 20T pinions combined with a good motor you'll get a better top speed and the truck should be able to do wheelies from standing start both forwards and backwards. It won't ever be quite as fast as the ESavage though; the gearing is just a bit too low for that turn of speed.

Where did you get the chassis from? There were a few sources for these a while ago but they all seemed to dry up; I would like to know where to pick up a nice new double battery chassis for my Twin Det!

hi

yes its the same as the twin det.

im getting the chassis from a guy called m-damann@web.de

found the link on a dagger forum.im waiting for my chassis, should be here any day now.

if you give me your email ,ill send you the email he sent me with the pics and price list.

or email him if you want.he seems ok and accepts paypal.

i think ill try with the 600's and if they dont fit ,ill try the tamiya bz's as they are 23t but apparently run as good as 19t.

Magnetic Mayhems are great motors, why Kyosho stopped making them is beyond me. I've got five of them 4 forward, 1 reverse, if you want to keep them in good running order for as long as possible, check out this link: http://www.marcee.org/Articles/MagneticMayhem.html It gives instruction on how to mod them to have bearing instead of just bushes, making them much more reliable and helps preformance some too. Just make sure you run them in again before you really have at them.

Just did a quick spin around the web looks like you may be able to get the Magnetic Mayhem still, Kyosho has them on there site under K-Speed Monster Truck same part number as the old Magnetic Mayhem 70671 & 70672, a quick Google turns a few stores that are stocking them, some with images showing the Magnetic Mayhem sticker on the motors. I may shoot them an email and check they have then in stock.

Sorry to get off topic bfst24, but if you can get them the Magnetic Mayhems are great motors, good torgue and speed and they come in forward and reverse.

the tamiya bz's are only 7.2 volt motors i believe, so putting 14.4 volts through them will risk wrecking them fast.

How about trying standard 540 cans with 14.4 volts through them. Apparently they can take the higher voltage for a while, and the performance would be pretty good! Its worth a test at least

I've got hpi 550's in my txt-1, they are very powerful. But i'm not 100% sure if they run different in reverse, as you need one going backwards in the dual hunter.

got my chassis now.its a work of art

also purchased a pair of hpi 550's real cheap[and in the deal got another hpi esav esc, which will be for sale soon].i know the traxxas emaxx 550's are 0deg timed.i think the hpi ones are the same motor

also it looks like my johnson 600's will fit too.

so i will fit the 550's first and test it.then try the 600's.

Can you provide some info on this chassis ? Price, photos ? Links ? I'm currently seeking a double battery chassis for a Twin Detonator & have found a arbon Fiber one overseas but this sounds interesting as well.
