New to the site after buying a LB for Christmas & loving it to bits.

I've done the front suspension mod,the steering geometry mod & the third shock all recommended off this site, they've made a massive difference to handling & cornering.

I would like to upgrade the shocks as there rubbish & have seen some for a HPI Savage on fleabay, will they fit?

Also I'd like to fit fatter & nobbly tyres to the standard wheels as I have chrome from a Pumpkin but am unsure of what to get or where to find, can anyone point me in the right direction for both ideas please.

Also I'd like to recommend putting your electrics inside party balloons as this keeps things dry, after going to my local bmx track & driving through puddles higher than the wheels I learnt to my cost the effects of muddy water, esc & receiver mixing....

Welcome to the site! I don't know if the Savage shocks will work or not. Most people seem to add the "short" CVA Tamiya shocks listed as hop-ups in the manual. Tires that fit the stock Lunch Box/Midnight Pumpkin rim are far and few between these days. I think IMEX still makes their truck pull tire for that rim size. Its bigger with wider spaced more aggressive lug bars. The best bet would be to mount up some original Blackfoot/Monster Beetle type rims. They are a little narrower yet larger in diameter. With these rims you'd be open to all the 2.2 rim size tires out there (which there are plenty). Your idea for keeping the electrics dry isn't a bad one but its probably best to leave the ESC out in the open. They need some air to keep cool. Glad you're having fun with your 'Box.

Savage shocks are too long for the Lunchbox/Pumpkin, they won't fit. The best ones I've used have been the Tamiya short CVA, they improve the handling no end.

Would I be able to use wheels & tyres from one of these:Clodbuster, monster beetle, bullhead or blackfoot?

If I can then I want to go Bullhead chromes & then customise a spare shell.

Went to the beach today & went mad, making jumps & chasing dogs......you'd never believe I was 34 years young.

The clod and bullhead are huge trucks, their wheels are twice the size of lunchbox ones :D

Monster beetle and original blackfoot wheels are a direct fit with no modifications, although the height of 2.2 size tyres would cause them to rub on the body with the suspension pressed right down.

With a rear hex adapter set, to change the standard rear wheel fitments to the modern hex type, you could fit a set of red king blackfoot wheels, or chrome king blackfoot wheels. Some 2.2 size wheels are only available with the hex fitments, so you'd need more adapters to fit them to the front wheels, as those need bearings inside the wheel.

Tyre choice for the stock wheels is very limited, checkout tc member shodogs showroom, he has some hop up tyres fitted to his trucks.

Can you use the Frog wheel adapters so the tears run 12mm hex? That would open up WW2 wheels or any other hex/bearing combos.

Has anyone measured the comical grasshopper tires/rims yet? I know I have seen a couple had shown up in the mail section.

For comparison the LB tires are ~110mm outside diameter OD and Blackfoot tires are 135mm OD. A less aggressive scaler tire may just fit as long as the OD was somewhere between the LB and BF diameters.

Stadium trucks like XXT, RC10T (were 2.2's) not sure but probably the, Stadium Thunder had similar OD's too i bet.

Don't forget about the Wr02 option tires, they are pin spike, soft compound versions of the stock tires. They look like lunchbox sized versions of the monster beetle tire, with the knobby spikes in between the chevrons.

Something else to keep in mind, as you add tire diameter the car will get more tippy and prone to rollovers, unless as someone pointed out above, you use spacers to push the wheels out some... and gearing changes.

I've seen some LB tyres on eBay via a seller who also sells Aluminium hop ups .

Looks like they include the rims too

Anyone tried these yet? The treads look neat, especially the sand tire.

I’ve got a pair of the slicks, the rubber is quite soft which helps with grip, & they came fitted with foams (not sure or they all do).

Thank you, I have been thinkin about to buy some paddle tires or slicks for my LB, but I havent seen those wheel adapters until now.

I might get my hands on the wr02 threaded spikes, and maybe slicks.
