Reading Bash 7 on 20th January has been cancelled

Due to current and predicted weather conditions the ground will be a complete bog and we're all likely to get soaked through. See post on next page for more info. Many apologies.

The Reading Bashers are having their first bash of 2008, on the 20th of January, Reading Bash 7, starting at 12 noon. It's a good chance for TCers to meet, chat and drive with fellow R/C enthusiasts. We're all a very friendly bunch, and really enjoy meeting new members. You can bring any cars / parts you have for trade or sale aswell.

So where is it? Well, along Caversham Park Road, Reading (Postcode RG4) there are Caversham Park Village Tennis courts with a car park. The turning into the car park is a few hundred yards away from the tuning (on the other side of the road) into Fraser Avenue. If you put Fraser avenue into something such as http://maps.google.co.uk/, you will see Caversham Park road and using the satellite feature you can see the tennis courts/car park.

We'll be meeting in the car park at 12, but should you turn up later, here's a quick map of how to get to where we'll be running our cars:

rblocation7dy.jpg

You walk through the car park, past the skate park along a narrow dirt track. Keep going past the first line of bushes, until you reach the woods. We'll be right infront of you on the edge of the woods, by a big bowl.

For more info/pics of previous bashes, see the Reading Bashers SIG here: http://tamiyaclub.com/sig_member.asp?id=21

If you're thinking of coming, let me know by popping your name down in this thread.

Look forward to seeing you all

Allie.

Ooh- I fancy a bit of that! I'll see if i can get time off work tomorrow. Sorry to sound wet (no pun intended!) but prob not come if it's raining...

Ground conditions I'm not sure what they'll be like. Depends on the weather in the next week or so. No electrical supplies at all Ryck - it's in some woods! Have a look at the Reading Bashers SIG to see some pics / vids of the type of terrain. There's all sorts - good rally stuff, crawler bits, mud bog, jumps. No smooth tarmac though. Although there is a skate-park!

So far the definites are:

Dunkman (Dunk)

Rad22Rad Alloys (Rad)

Andersop (Paul)

Petrolhead + Dad (Allie + Jezza)

Bin^jammin^ (Ben)

Rizzo Rat (Rizzo?)

Chain Driven (Jerome)

Mud Plugger (D ick)

Wrc action + Dad (Ryck + Dad)

Ryanbored (Ryan)

Possibles -

Jagsxr - It would be good to see you again, it's been a while and Dad really enjoyed chatting with you

Rally-man, he's got an operation on the 15th and all being well he'll come along. He said if he can walk he'll be there! Best wishes Dave.

Kowalski (Elliot)

Monster Beetle (Kevin)

Should be a good event.

Good to hear you and your Dad are coming Ryck, looking forward to meeting you and everyone else.

I've emailed Elliot a couple of times but haven't heard back from him. He doesn't seem to have been around here much recently. I'll try contacting him again.

I'll be bringing:

- Fox the Faithful

- Pumpkin to thrash

- Possibly my TB-01

- XC

- Possibly the Crawler if it's ready in time

Is it worth me bringing the Mini along for you to have a look at Ryck?

Thanks for replying Elliot, it would be good to see you.

Monster Beetle, by all means come along with whatever trucks or cars you may have, the more members the merrier. I've emailed you too.

Looks like I can get the time off which will be a result. At the moment I have a TLT and High Lift- Can you run nitro there?

THanks guys

Ryan

Good to hear that Ryan. Nitros have been run there in the past and no-ones ever objected to it so I don't see why not. Even an FG Marder's been run (and broken) there!

'ello Ryck,

I'm sure if your dad has had the same experiences of Fuel Cells as me he won't want to talk about them. :-)

Say Hello to him for me.

Guys, I have a big decision to make on the 20th, unless you want to break out the racer buggies and join me in the warm and dry of Newbury?

The mud around here is getting ****tier and ****tier. It's even getting on the roads. Can I recommend some heavy water proofing for Sunday.

I'll think about you when I'm in the warm and dry in Newbury. I'm sorry I've got to get my carpet racing groove on.

Nice work Ryck!

I've already waterproofed everything up Elliot in preparation for very boggy conditions. Hope you have a good day racing on Sunday, I'm sure we'll be thinking of you in your nice warm place too!

Posted

lucky u elliot!

Yeah splash gaurds, inner shells and all the options we can get I think.

Need to protect my nice new gt tuned motors for both cars :L

what is everyone bringing?

do u reckon that track to the sit is capable of taking a defender to get closer to the action?

Also is the site clay soil? sandy or a loam?

cheers

Ryck

No cars are allowed up there Ryck, nor could they fit past some posts if they tried. The ground's not clay, nor sand, just your average mud. It's quite hard packed in some places (when dry) and soft in others.

Posted

Right okies - was worth a thourght to bring the shelter to myself lol.

Well I think I will go for taking the tyres down and making my call when Im there, but Im expecting the rain so off to make some mods to keep the water out!

expect a race ready thread for the Vw race touareg between now and saturday night.
