hi all.

well i was all set to buy a lunchbox but i have been having second thoughts.

i have been looking at the blackfoot extreme

i no they are both rear wheel drive and have a 540 motor.does this mean the will be the same speed ?(probely)

i will be runing it with 3000mah batterys and a dirt tuned motor

the size of the Lb is L.445mm W.310mm H.267mm

but i cannot find the size of the blackfoot ?is it bigger

thanks

the black foot is 1/10 scale and the box is 1/12 scale, so the blackfoot is bigger. i own both these models and they are both great fun. i couldnt recomend one over the other. the black foot would be slightly faster due to the gearing as the box is geared for wheelies. neither handle very well as standard. it comes down to personol choice on looks. just go with the one that looks best to you

thanks for the reply :D

so with the to trucks side by side the blackfoot is bigger ?

and are parts ok to get for both ?

and does the blackfoot wheely really easy like the lunchbox ?

i am not to bothered about wheeling easy.i want more speed really.

and i want to beable to tune it up in the future.

any sugestion welcome

happy new year

thanks chris

the black foot is wider taller longer, dont have exact measurments. parts are easy to get for either. my blackfoot only wheelies if i reverse and then slam it forward. if you want speed go for the blackfoot. glad i could help. any more questions just ask

i have only just seen the monster truck section, :D

so i have been reading in there

i do like the lunchbox more than the blackfoot purely for the looks

and i have just found out i could put a hornet pinion in the lunchbox, what ever that is ?

to make it wheel less and have more top speed.

and i think with a sport or dirt tuned motor i will be happy with them.

thanks chris

I have a Lunch Box (about 5 actually) and a Twin Detonator (same chassis as the Blackfoot Extreme) that I ran as a 2wd like the Blackfoot Extreme for a while. The Lunch Box always seemed the faster of the two but that might just be my imagination. Both are very tough. The 'Foot is wider, longer and much more stable. Its independent suspension handles far better than the Lunch Box's arrangment. In stock form, I found it a bit dull and predictable. There are many ways to modify the 'Foot and its chassis will better cope with hotter motors since its more stable. The Lunch Box is every bit as tough as the Blackfoot Extreme. Its tallish stature, short wheelbase and relatively light weight add up to an interesting handling experiance. A 'Box will never handle as good as the 'Foot. The drivetrain is bulletproof and can handle any motor but with really potent motors, the Lunchie will spend more time on its roof. There are some mods to improve the Lunch Box but it is limited by its design. All that being said, I love driving my Lunch Box. Even milder motors will make driving it an entertaining "edge-of-the-seat" experiance. The wheelies are awesome (though not constant like a Wild Willy). If you omit the black motor spacer you can run the larger Hornet pinion gear on the motor shaft as you noted. This will increase top end speed while reducing the torque that enables wheelies. I'd keep the stock pinion however as it there to relieve motor stress imposed by the Lunchie's monster tires.

The two trucks are quite different in their design and handling. Both gives lots of fun, but in different ways.

The Lunchbox is a "Stunt Truck." That means it's designed primarily for wheelies, and for generally bouncing around. The solid rear axle and top-heavy design mean it will wheelie off the stick with a standard motor. With a hotter motor it can wheelie constantly, but the primitive suspension means it doesn't take corners well even on the standard silvercan. You can upgrade it will oil shocks and chassis-stiffening mods, but it will still be top-heavy and roll-happy, the steering will still be vague and imprecise, and the front suspension geometry will still be "unusual"

The Blackfoot is more of a "Stadium Truck" - designed for speed and off-road racing. In standard trim it's not very fast - the silvercan is geared with an 18-tooth pinion to move the big 1/10 chassis along the ground. However, with a Super Stock BZ and a 20-tooth pinion, it absolutely flies. It's not the most advanced truck on the market, but the independant double-wishbone suspension is streets ahead of the Lunchbox's primitive design and it will track much better over bumpy ground that will turn the Lunchie on its roof. It is also upgradeable - aftermarket shock towers and 4" aluminium shocks greatly increase the ground clearance and improve the handling no end. It shares parts with the Wild Dagger-series twin-motor trucks, so if you want to upgrade the world is your mollusc.

Summary:

If you want out-of-the-box fun, wheelies, rolls, bouncing and general close-quarters mayhem, go with the Lunchbox.

If you want a sturdy, planted stadium truck with plenty of scope for upgrades, go with the Blackfoot Extreme.

NB: the DualHunter is the new twin-motor stadium truck. It has the same chassis as the Blackfoot Extreme but has two motors, 4 wheel drive, and now comes with a twin-motor ESC for very little extra money. The shell is ugly as sin, but any aftermarket lexan shell can be made to fit.

well just to let you all no,i have got the lunch box

it is my first build and it took me 6 hours to build it.yes it might be along time, but i took my time,

because i wanted to do it right,it looked abit scary at first, with all the parts but they went together fine.

next on my shoping list is a sport tuned motor and ball baring kit,and mybe some shocks.

Congrats! A sport-tuned motor and ball bearings should make a world of difference - hope you enjoy it!

there are loads of very simple mods to make the Lunchbox a better runner, depending on what you want to do with it. Browse the showrooms and forums for ides :)
