the only window i have is the windshield. The body isnt scratched to bad and decals are pretty good. Its cracked were the box meets the body. Im sure its a easy fix with some putty or some glue.

Standard model glue even when applied correct rarely holds up for long when used for repairs, as the breaks are normally in high stress areas, I find it's better to use something stronger if possible.

Epoxy putty is great for modeling new front fenders and alike, but it tends to be bulky and you reallly want something that can be thinly applied on the inside of the body, this way you can paint over it and no one will know it's there.

Since the area you say the break is in mostly large flat surfaces, I'd suggest two part epoxy (normal comes in double syringe) you just mix it apply it and it sets like concrete in minutes, give it 24 hours to harden fully and it's stronger that the original body. If it's a really large crack you may want to use some fibre grass cloth to re-enforce the epoxy.

Sound like once you get the cracks repaired it should be a fairly easy restore, you should be able to pick up a sunroof and drive fairly easy and relatively cheaply. The biggest issue I can see for you now is finding a back windows, you'll be hard pressed to find a Blackfoot D-tree or a Super Blackfoot G-tree and if you do it will probably cost the earth, your probably going to have find one used either in a used/random parts lot or as part of a wrecked body. (unfortunately there aren't the number of wrecked bodies and chassis running around on ebay that there were a year ago.)

I peiced together a orginal Blackfoot body set (complete with all ford markings) from all new parts a year ago and you don't want to know how much it cost, so is really worth the effort to restore the body you have.

This is a great thread as I have just picked up a Blackfoot off of ebay for $62 shipped. Here 'tis. Please point out anything you might notice as either after-market or definitely needing repair. Thanks!

Looks decent...

Pretty clean...

Dusty and a bit scratched, but should make for a nice runner with paint and decals.

I look forward to more great posts and info. I will post more detailed pics once I have the truck in hand.

it looks pretty clean to me Chilihook. All i've noticed is a larger after market servo saver, which might be ok, might not :)

looks like its only got plastic bushings, i can see one on the front wheel.

one upgrade you might want to do is add a monster beetle steering servo brace. its a metal bracket that protects the servo saver snapping off the servo horn. It was added to the monster beetle kit as people with the earlier blackfoot kept breaking servo savers and servo horns.

I'm going to regret it but ..how hard is it to find a Blackfoot body? I found a fairly mint chassis for cheap but no body should I even bother?

Very easy

just type blackfoot shell into ebay.co.uk and you'll find some in the shops.

not terribly cheap though, and then you'll need the tailgate, roll bar, chrome, windows etc..

which are all usually available, at a price. :D

Oh god ...I think I better pass ...
