What's the best battery to use in my Mad Fighter to improve it,s performance so that it will beat my Nephews Fighter buggie and wipe his smug smile off his face. At the moment i am using the battery from my Grasshopper 2 but thats only 7.2v 1300mA and he his using a 1500 and a 1700. cheers[:)]

To get more speed power you need to get a battery with higher voltage, like 8.4 V if your motor can handle it and it fits in your car, you could fit the 7th cell separately in the car, or make a battery pack of small AA NIMHs?

If you want to stay with 7.2V (a wise choice for a Mad Fighter [;)]), then get yourself a good 7.2V Nicad for more punch, like the Sanyo 2400s (small internal resistance), if selected, matched and pushed even better. For long runtimes (can be of advantage in endurance races) you can buy 3000-3300 NIMHs.

You would probably see better improvements by changing pinions, or installing a hotter motor.

Maybe they want to make a stock motor race?

Maybe oil filled shocks will help a little. Anyone with a Super Hornet can confirm? [:)]

The Super Hornet is a car very similar to the Mad Fighter and Fighter Buggy. I can tell as I got both the SH as the FB. I can't really anwer this question as my Super Hornet isn't really in a 'runable' state, and I nicked off the shocks to swop them around with the Bear Hawk... [:D]

A good ESC and Battery will help: I easily outrun a Wild Dagger with my King Blackfoot, as his had a cheapass ESC and a 1700mAh batt (and 4WD!), where my KBF had a 2400mAh batt and a fairly expensive ESC with no reverse (though only 2WD and slightly heavier as well!). We both ran stock motors. I think driving skill also was a major point of difference... [;)] Keep in mind skill is the best Hop-Up avaliable!

My SuperHornet has oil-filled shocks. They're nice in the front. But in the rear, with that slidingpivotinggoofballfunky setup it has, it's still bouncing like mad back there. I want to make it stop!

On the batteries, the 1300, 1500, 1700, etc. is the capacity of the battery which affects runtime. For performance gains, you would have to use a battery with more cells.

For performance gains, try bearings (ballraces), different gearing, hotter motor, ESC. Any stock racing motor should be better than the kit-standard silver-can 540.
