It refers to the inside diameter of the tires and the outside diameter of the wheels

As far as I know, 2 and 2.2 refers to the diameter of the inside of the tyre (the "bead") where it sits on the rim. Most modern monster trucks use 2.2" wheels and tyres; the Lunchbox, Wild Willy and Pumpkin are strange in their use of 2" tyres. TLT tyres are smaller again (about 1.5" - incidentally the exact same asymetrical bead pattern as HPI's Vintage tyres; see my showroom for details).

Touring cars use 1.9" wheels and tyres, although a growing range of realistic-looking 1.9" truck tyres is available for that scale 1/10 truck look.

I hope that clears up many confusing points with RC truck tyres. I found myself horribly confused when I started looking at off-road trucks

well i was gona get a few sets of wild willy 2 chrome wheels for my king blackfoot and dual hunter and blackfoot extreme.but they wont fit the tyres.then i was gona get some traxxas vxl wheels,but on modelsport it says they are 2.8.im sure on traxxas.com they are 2.2.

no just checked,they are 2.8.anyone know the hex size of the stampede or rustler?also will these wheels fit ok?

As to the 2.8 Traxxas wheels/tyres, I was in a model shop in Bury St Edmunds a while ago, and they had a Mad Bull with them fitted. With info in mind, I figured that they are 12mm hex. But you will have to use rear wheels.

Traxxas uses 12mm hexes, so they'll fit. The only place you'll have trouble is on the front of the KBF where there's no hex.

You should also look into HPI or RPM wheels; they're both 2.2 and usually come with all sorts of adapters to make them fit anything. You'll need 4 rear wheels for the trucks with 4 hexes, and 2 rears and 2 fronts for the KBF.

WW2 wheels (with tires on them) bolt right onto the KBF, but you lose all the ground clearance because the overall diameter is smaller. Makes it almost impossible to flip, though.
