Hi All

Being a big fan of the TA01/2 and the Escort I'm making a Rally escort Runner to fill the void as I have restored one for the shelf and gentle running.

for running gear I have a std chassis with a tamiya esc and a yokomo 21T motor.

I want it to look scale even though its a runner. The shell was quite tatty but with the help of evo-stick lexan strips and a stapler the shell is in a ok (if a little battle damaged) state. Thats ok for me as its not that noticable.

The thing is I have a plain white shell, I could make it like a tiger stripe but I would rather make it a custom livery, Im also keen to make a Rally skid guard for it.

Anyone got any intereting Escort alternative schemes? hints on makign a rally skid plate?

Cheers

For paint schemes, either look in the TC showrooms, or look on the net for them. Also, Tamiya produced a rally bumper/guard for the TA01/02, look on ebay for them, they crop up every now and again.

That subtle one looks quite nice :o

also this might be quite striking

http://galeria.forocoches.com/data/500/med...m_Escaneos_.JPG are red vinyl sticker sheets easy to get?

I know there is a proper ta01/2 skid guard but Im considering making one as I dont know if 17 is worth it, Im quite tempted to make my own.

I'm also interested in making a light cluster are there any easy to obtain parts that will let me do something like this?

Vinyl material is easy to obtain, i've used this guy several times before:

The good thing about proper sign writers vinyl is that it's inherently stretchy, so it can conform to complex curves in a way that Tamiya decals are never good at. With a little heat from a hairdryer any creases will be gone and you'll be left with something that looks like you painted it.

You don't have to buy the pack by the way, they will supply any colours you want in any quantity.

i brought my re-rel tt-01 escort a few years back and i just built it and painted it the box art and then stuck it on top of my wardrobe

where i can admire it every time i am in bed and i will never use it. i also managed to get the schnitzher bmw shell and wheels for only 25 nib for it but i aint got round to painting it yet as i still enjoy staring at the escort. ;) i did have pics of it until my old computer cought a dredded virus and did,nt recover :) so i lost them all.

Firstly the shell - anything is possible just look at what decals you can get hold of and go from there, Sometimes Ebay sellers are now doing there own decals which are pretty cool - My Impreza 07 is now sponsored by Walawala :)

rallysump guard - Frankly I dont like the TA02 skid gaurd set and there are much better ways, What u need is the small bumper which I believe is stock and a large lump of foam to make your own front support structure that will easily fold on impact ;)

lightpod - I have many a time wanted a lightpod and have even had a go at making a few, Problem is when you roll over your pod doesnt take to nicely to it and often ends up separate from the car. If you want lights then I advise getting one of the new shells like the Impreza 07 with lights and just adding an extra front lead set to get the full brightness,

If you want to see examples of both of these then I advise a visit to my showroom and also the TA03 rally related questions thread started by thesuper.

Cheers guys,

I did think about the foam thang, but I want to actually put up a rally /bull bar look at the front (to also partly hide the most drastic parts of damage). The f350 bumper looks ok, maybe I could find a cheap knock-off and attach it to an extended under-bumper thingy-me-bob

Thanks to the forum, Ive got some red decal sheets and have got the car up and running. Still not sorted out a skid guard / bumper and a light cluster though.

Also anyone know where I can get some good Marlboro stickers?

I've just added a skid guard set to my showroom, with some pictures showing assembly etc.:

Maybe they'll help you figure out whether it's the right choice for your project.

cheers,

I've managed to get a partial set of tigerstripe stickers.. I'm quite tempted to put these on it (even though I have a mint tigerstripe) Part of me wants to make somethign new though... What a dilemma...

Also I need some wing mirrors as I dont actually have any for this shell, and its a pet hate not having mirrors.. Anyone have any old wing mirrors?

gatmix - one of the major problems that u will face with making such a guard is that it will inherently bend and shift when u have an impact upon it. I did make some alloy sump guards for my TB01 but reverted to the system I had now as its firsly stronger and better for the shell but also lighter and when the car is impacted upon I do not have to pull the front back out as you would with a metal front end.

I take it you are no longer interested in the Impreza Prototype shell or the martini decals?

Cheers
