I just been phoning round for shocks for the BMW mini - shock part no. 50519

Two shops quoted £20 a pair

Apex charge £18.99 a pair according to their website

Tower hobbies charge $17.59 FOR FOUR!!!!!!!!!

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGK11&P=0

God I hate buying locally!

Anyone know if a set of four is available over here cheap?

UPDATE;

Amazing really, I phoned four shops in the UK (plus Apex' website) and although none of them had the shocks in stock, they all stated, quite positively, that the 50519 shocks were in packs of two - one shop even reckoned they supply them to a local racer as part of a sponsor deal as pairs.

I just phoned the importer to check, and they're sold in fours.

So, unless you got a good local shop, phone the importers!

Sorry, but the importer is wrong! 50519 C.V.A. Mini Shock Unit Set II are sold in pairs. All C.V.A.-dampers in the normal spare parts series (50000-series) have allways been sold in pairs.

If you take a careful look at the Tower Hobbies link you will see that 4 springs are included, but only one pair of plastic parts (and diaphragms and o-rings.)

The importer probably mixed up with the 53280 TA03 Super Low Friction Damper Set (which also fits your Mini) and are sold in a set of four.

Hi Miramar

The text supporting the tower items is;

Four Nylon Shock Bodies

Two Long Metal Silver Springs

Two Short Metal Silver Springs

Four Nylon Shock Caps

Four Metal Shock Shafts

Four Shock Bushings

One Bottle of Damper oil

Intructions

Does sound like four shocks?

Oh, you're right about the text. Tower Hobbies' text indicate 4 dampers, but it is still wrong! [:D] Just take a look at the picture. Also, apart from having sold dozens of these sets myself, one look in the Tamiya RC Guide Book is enough to conclude only two shocks are included.

Many thanks for clearing it up, didn't have any Tamiya literature to hand and the pics on the Tamiya website are tiny!

Have a good one[:D]

Never doubt Miramar, people... the Master is never wrong. [:)]

Yes, Tamiya's shocks have always come 1pr to a blister pack, only exception being the TA03 Alloys which covers the whole car.

However note the 50519 is the 'standard' length CVA for touring cars. It will screw onto the M03 but it is still a little long to allow the suspension to compress fully.

Your best bet is the shorter "Super Mini CVA" 50746 (as debuted on the front of the TA03Rs). They're a bit harder to find than the "Mini CVA" but if your LHS has them, grab 'em. Best of all, Tower has this listed at only $13.39 - wow!

ps: get TWO packs [;)]
