Hey all,

Just purchased a 17x2 Blue heat modified motor for my TT-01. Wanted to know what the best gearing option is. Its currently running with the stock spur and pinion but i dont understand how changing them will effect the performance of the car. Any one have any recomendations?

Cheers

The larger the pinion gear (or the smaller the spur gear), the higher the top speed, but the less acceleration. The best gearing option highly depends on the track you're gonna drive. Very high gearings (lets say 28 pinion and 55 spur) are only suitable for tracks with long straights and few curves.

I don't do any races with my TT01, but like the high top speed of a 28 pinion and 55 spur. Make sure your ESC and motor can handle it! My motor (17T) gets quite hot when running on dry surfaces. I will soon change to a 25 pinion to get a little more acceleration.

Yes, it does. You can use the 25/55 combo, but make sure to mount the motor in the A holes of the mount. Oh and get a metal mount first to deal with the increased motor temperature!

Just ordered the Spur and pinion combo Supergreg recomended, started reading the old manual to check how the motor needed to sit on the mount and it seems that you can't run a 25 pinion with a tt-01. Any one have any ideas or is anyone running one.

Yep right, this is not mentioned in the manual itself. But there's a small instruction sheet enclosed in the speed gearing set you will recieve. The table shows which mount hole to use for each combo. It cleary says to use A-holes for a 25/55 combo. I can send you a copy by email tomorrow if interested.

No that’s fine mate cheers. The gears are in the post. I'd read it in the guidebook as well that that ratio wasn't compatible with the tt-01, so the alarm bells started ringing.
