Da Kid 0 Posted January 29, 2008 I'm interested in creating a lowrider SIG, but of course I need members... anyone interested?
Mad Ax 11485 Posted January 29, 2008 I would join, if my pumpkin lowrider is acceptible? It has changed slightly from the pics below, although I may build another lowrider for the shelf in the future... http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...8&sid=15729
Da Kid 0 Posted January 29, 2008 Yeah I could roll with that... nice pumpkin. i thought about something similar myself, but with an old Bolink Digger chassis... Tamiya1/10 384 Posted October 19, 2014 Thought i look into any lowrider samples now that Tamiya has released the lowrider pumpkin of sort. Nothing I saw the build, but just not nasty enough. I would like Tamiya to offered wider wheels and tires and the cab roof lowered. Wheels and tires are an easy fix, cutting of the roof is doable, but the one piece cup windows would be a chellenge along with the roll bars. tamiya static model division could've made the pumpkin body more appealing and i think would have sold a lot more kits. Do the 2 depart. work seperately? I guess Tamiya has gone the 3R route even for their products ....reduce ,reuse and recycle I also think they could done more in the grill area up front. The design depart just have to get few hot rod mag. for ideals and would've got a winner on their hand. Instead, a water down version of radio shack product and we know what happened to radio shack and they are not even in the RC or static model business. Flat_Out 57 Posted October 19, 2014 I'll join. I'm building a lowrider right now, and have parts for a 2nd based on the old Pegasus Hobbies chassis. Edit- just saw how old the original post was. Did the sig ever get created?
speedy_w_beans 4286 Posted October 20, 2014 Check out http://www.jevries.com/. The builds, blog, and videos are great.
Tamiya1/10 384 Posted October 20, 2014 I can't even consider making the chasis going up and down or bouncing. Just a nasty in you face pumpkin. This time around Tamiya kept the body as is and slip a new chassis underneath it and call it a new model, whereas before a new body over an existing chassis from the XC/CC, RR/SC , 3Spds and the lists go on.... Mad Ax 11485 Posted October 20, 2014 Edit- just saw how old the original post was. Did the sig ever get created? The sig does (or at least did) exist, my lowrider pumpkin is (or was) displayed in it. Not sure if the sig owner is still active though - search my showroom and click the link to the sig, apply for membership and see if you get a response. I'm not sure what happens if the owner has left the site.

C'mon, now... You know you want to mod up a chassis to go with a cool body. Watch the first 50 seconds of this...
Tamiya1/10 384 Posted October 20, 2014 Bonkers , lots of fun ....until the replacements bills come in. My XC Pajero was put through the ringer, but nothing compares to what i saw in the video. Now it sits on a shelve all pretty and bling up but no place to go. I don't think any of Tamiya kits, even with after market parts can take thst kind of punishments and come back for more. mr crispy 2297 Posted October 20, 2014 It wouldn't happen for a long time but Id be interested in making a chassis with an "air ride" style system to be able to move each corner indivually or all together. I wonder if it could simply be done with 4 servos moving the suspension arms through their full range of movement? Maybe controlled via a seperate 4channel controller. Flat_Out 57 Posted October 21, 2014 That's my plan, but with a 6 channel radio.
speedy_w_beans 4286 Posted October 21, 2014 More inspiration... Nice build thread using servos to simulate hydraulics: http://www.ultimaterc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=108236 A more current Jevries video... I'm glad to see he's still doing this.
mr crispy 2297 Posted October 21, 2014 Mad I wonder if you can get them to hop just with servos?
Tamiya1/10 384 Posted October 21, 2014 These low riders are another take on RC and is out of my league.
Flat_Out 57 Posted October 21, 2014 Mad I wonder if you can get them to hop just with servos? I'm shooting for hop, but not getting my hopes up. With a 2:1 rocker multiplying a fast servo speed, a strong BEC, and a spring with no dampening it might... but I'm not far enough with the build to test it out yet. Plus I've got the battery hanging way out back. That should help.
speedy_w_beans 4286 Posted October 21, 2014 It's all in the weight distribution. If you put enough weight behind the rear axle to balance the rest of the chassis you can get some realistic, slow-moving hopping going. I don't see any reason why you couldn't get some hopping going with a moderately fast servo (0.10 s range).
bromvw 744 Posted October 23, 2014 Nothing as trick as these but i'am toying with the idea of using Lego pneumatics to have adjustable ride height . i just need to figure out how small a compressor and air tank i can use
