I thought I would post my progress of this on here, its a long slow process as I dont have a great deal of time to spend on it...

I never intended on starting this, was originally looking for a Clod body to fit on a touring car chassis.. but blob1 offered this shell which looked cool, it obviously wont fit on a touring car chassis ;) . It has been extended 2 inch and not a bad job, just needs some strengthening behind before final filling and smoothing (flexes and cracks filler at moment). The motor is cut into the bonnet not just attached on top so looks good in my opinion.

Started collecting the parts and was going to make my own chassis from aluminium bought at B&Q, but then I found that chassis on Ebay.com, won it for 21 including delivery BARGAIN!

Started a little more work on this, chassis work has stalled as I broke one of the jaws on my vice (******), so turned my attention to the shell.

1. Needed to cut a hole in the bed to allow me to raise chassis and the transmission hit bed, to hide this I made a little box disguised it as a toolbox, considering I havent done much with plasticard Im quite pleased with result a little more work, cleaning up and paint should make it look fine. At the same time I removed the mounts for roll bar as the stock one doesnt look right with box there.

2. I received a set of LowslowTJ's wheelarch flares as I think they look awesome and should improve look as the wheels/tyres do protrude from shell a fair bit. These are in process of being attached.

3. Looking at scale accessories I found this bike (not difficult Erica collects model bikes LOL) its a Maisto and after a quick search I found a decent looking mountain bike which has been bought. The scale is 1/12 so I think it fits really well.

Some nice Topcad aluminium rims for the truck (15 plus postage for 4 wheels what a bargain)

They are amazing quality for the price and they are perfect style for any scale truck. (seen a set on a tourag and they look great)

Started to get it into paint, still bits to do (particularly around the windscreen etc)

The tranny is Traxxas Stampede. The wheels are manufactured by Topcad in a 2 styles (8 hole and the 5 spoke) and a few different colours, you should be able to find them at Dinball which is where I bought my 2 sets.(www.rcmart.com)

These are the other style rims...

So another quick question, sorry about this.

Have put a Stampede tranny in ryan's Build, do i or would you recommend that the diff in the gearbox is locked?

It isn't at the moment, never used one before so i don't know much about them. (help)

This one is locked (I would lock out slipper clutch if it has one too), so I would recommend it, otherwise on loose surfaces you will have some problems getting the power down as all the power will just go to the axle that has least grip, same sort of problems you have with unlocked diffs on axles.

Cool that made sense, thought i'd check first as it's not my Tranny!

I don't really like it over there ;) too much idle chat for my liking! and there's just too much going on.

I posted one of mine over there and got hardly any response at all so i gave up.

I think there's almost too many builds going on. too many threads to follow if that makes any sense.

thats why I got my newby built up there. because people want cheap newby builds, as we cant / dont want to spend as much on a tuber etc.

Err talking about idle chat ;) Can we keep this on topic please :P

Yeah, common dready we have deadlines don't y'know?!

Project remained pretty stagnant for a while and then I came up with what seemed like a brilliant idea... how wrong can you be, the things you wish you hadnt started.

But here it went, figured it needed a dropped bed to suit some scale accessories (when I get round to buying and making some). I just wanted a basic box really as I know Im not going to be capable of anything more basically :D

So as far as Im concerned job basically done, just a lot of tidying up, a little more boxing up to hide transmission and a quick coat of satin black paint. I just wish I had decided to do it before I painted the rest.

Biggus this looks great. I just found this thread. I had no Idea you were doing it. Will we see this on the 16th ?

Thanks fella, not sure it will be done by then... but will bring it all the same.

Just done a little more work on this, some fender wells, all i need now is some plasticard tube to make the fuel filler pipe inside the bed.

Coming along nice biggus , are you going to put slats on the bed floor?.

Yeh I plan too, looks a little bare without.. not going to be a high quality build but close enough for me and a runner, Im quite happy with the progress so far.

Looking good with the Wheel wells.

As far as high quality goes looks pretty good to me!

If your painting the inside of the Bed Black it hides half the little imperfections anyway.

What glue are you using to stick your Plastic sheet together?
