I bought new HPI wheels and Ho Bao tyres for my Blackfoot Extreme 4x4 conversion, but the Ho Bao Monster tyres are so wide that at the front they interfere with the steering hubs. The simple fix is to use an axle widener, but that's where my problems began...

Is there a basic Wild Dagger or TL01 axle widener kit that will work? I tried the wide stub axles and wide hexes from my M04L BMW Roadster - although this spaced the wheel out enough, it didn't leave enough thread to securely lock the HPI wheel on. The wheel also didn't seem to be central on the axle; as it it needed the wider axle section to protrude further through the wheel in order to centralise. I don't know if an axle widener kit will be any wider than this :s

I fell in love with the Ho Baos the minute I put them on the rims, but I'm starting to think I might need to come up with a custom solution or abandon them for more standard-sized tyres

Incidentally, the inside bead of the tyres has been mounted on the inside edge of the tyre bead - this looks fine from the outside and gives me a little more clearance, but just not enough...

TIA for any advice :(

why not get two pairs of TG-10 axles and use your M04L wide hexes, i used the TG-10 axles on my high lift when using hpi wheels as i had the same problem of the wheel nuts only just fitting but not upto the nylock.

Cheers for the update guys ;) those Junfac things look like they will support my wheels nicely, with 14.4v power I doubt the wide plastic hexes would last long...
