The RS and FS where the short version as stated.

Wheelbase you are looking at around 240mm I think, The shells where the corolla and the peugeot wrc

tho I think the newer bred of short shells like the Audi TT DTM and the Z4 coupe might also fit.

cheers

Yes all of the above is mostly correct.

To determine the TA03 chassis differences, look for the following:

TA03F: Front Motor 4WD Wheelbase 257mm

TA03F-S: Front Motor 4WD Wheelbase 237mm

ta03f_s.jpg

TA03R: Midship motor 4WD Wheelbase 257mm

ta03r.jpg

TA03R-S: Midship 4WD Wheelbase 237mm

The shorter wheelbase kits were available in the following:

TA03R-S stand for "Rear, Short".

#58193 RC RC Porsche 911 GT1 - TA03R-S

#58215 RC PIAA Porsche 911 - TA03R-S

#58278 RC Lancia 037 Rally - TA03RS

TA03F-S stands for "Front, Short".

#58218 RC Toyota Corolla WRC - TA03F-S

#58250 RC Peugeot 206 WRC - TA03F-S

TA03R-S was available as a TRF chassis which had all the hop-up options.

#58243 RC TA03R-S TRF Special Chassis

or

#53887 RC TA03RS Chassis Conversion

Unfortunately, the newer short body Audi-TT does NOT fit the TA03R-S chassis, I know, I've got them both... :-(

The RS was shorter and had all the hop up bits, Carbon deck top and bottom etc.

The s stood for short.

And bodyshells are really hard to find!

The RS was just rear(motor)short(chassis). The TRF version didnt come out for quite a while after the original plastic versions.I think the first was the Porsche 911GT1.Didnt mean to sound anal, just pointing out so you know what other body there is.The Porsche is (i think)nice looking.

Yaa - we are all in this Tamiya soup together guys! I just frothed it up a bit.

In any event, Mosiac, let us know how you get along with the TA03 deal and send photos.

Cheers, Thompson

ps... look at that! Chris or a Mod nicked my sig. I guess that's what happens when you're an old TC member who never posts and then decides too!

I got a TA-03 chassis real cheap but suspect it may be an RS. Can anyone let me know what to look for to confirm this. Thanks in advance

just check the wheelbase:

if it's 257mm, it's a TA03R

if it's 237mm, it's a TA03RS

No pics as batteries are charging but it is a TA 03 RS, just bare chassis with silver can and worn foam tyres, seems a bit noisey in rear gear box and no belt but only NZ$15 ($11-12 US$) so I reckon not a bad deal, just means my return to this hobby is getting bigger as what started out as a beetle build now includes a winger resto and now the TA as well.

Cheers for all the info.
