Before anyone give's me grief lol i've been through the forums & just wanted to clarify a couple of issues. I believe the body has been painted with Tamiya acrylic or Gamesworkshop stuff

Most of the advice is to use RC Nitro Fuel, does this have to be diluted or thinned out. Also im worried that the shell may develop a 'cloudy' look to it. Does Nitro fuel have this affect or is it safe to use. Also worried about warping the shell.

Any clariffication on this would be great or any other methods.

assuming its a lexan shell

if they have used acrylic paint then it wont be stuck on very well - so it shoud be a bit easier

nitro fuel for lexan

brake fluid/oven cleaner for hardbody

as always do a little first as a test - the way the shell has been stored and used can also make it brittle and prone to damage

Thanks Blakeatron,

Its the Lexan Ford Repsol Cosworth, Im going to have ago tonight to see how it goes, but there is one question i forgot to ask lol. Is there any after stipping process that needs to be done or is it a case of a very very thorough wash down?

only ever stripped one lexan and that was a new mini because i mucked up the paint!

i taped up the holes then poored in the fuel and swirled it round for a bit, it didn't do much so left it for 5 mins - it was going soft so i gently brushed it with an old toothbrush. when all the paint was off i let it soak in some warm soapy water for about half an hour then washed it through a couple of times. left it for a day then washed again to be sure!

worked for me

The paint is starting to come off nicely, but i've been pouring it over the shell, do i have to 'bath' the shell is this better?

Cheers

What about a body that has all the decals on the outside? I hopefully have a resto project coming up soon where the previous owner put all the decals on correctly but did body colour different, I was hoping to redo it the box art colour but not sure about nitro on the decals, I guess if i am careful not to spill too much nitro on the outside, Tamiya stickers are pretty resilient to nitro from my experience, i have just never put this much nitro on a body before ?? :(

I am very interested in this answer as well as I am in the same spot. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Chilihook, fingers crossed if I pick up the project car this week I will be trying it out in a few days time, will let you know what happens? I am pretty confident it will be ok, Tamiya decals/stickers are pretty hard wearing, I might do some destructive tests on the decal offcuts from a recent build.

I guess the next worry is what effect the nitro has on the glue behind the stickers?
