2ch Upgraded To 3rd Ch

Hi years ago when I had my 1st Tamiya 3pd Truck I had a Acoms 2ch radio fitted with a toggle switch to allow me to change gears (i.e. 3rd ch)

Is it possible to do this mod myself to any standard 2ch radio or is it just too complicated

if its a real 2ch-only radio, yeah it'll be way too hard - you're talking total reengineering the thing.

Its not possible to 'add' channels to the TX unless its been designed for more channels from the start.

With today's costcutting etc etc, manufacturer wouldn't build in 3ch radios to sell as 2ch

and just blank off the unused circuitry/componentry - it'll be financial suicide.

Radio signal it sends out is standardised, but you'll need a 3ch RX also.

Your easiest way is to get a 3ch Traxxas transmitter (or HPI also) to start with

then mod it with a 3position switch to work your 3spd tranny.
