I am on the hunt for a Late 80s/Early 90s Ford Sierra RS500 Body Shell/polycarbonate Body. I had one of these for an old Tamiya Super Sabre 4wd RC car in 1989/90. Unfortunately I got rid of all my RC stuff back then to take up Go Karting. I am slowly getting back into RC cars as a hobby, I am about to get a re-release BMW M3 e30 tamiya kit, and I also have a tamtech 1/14 F1 car with a spare body. I was thinking of maybe using a Good Quality/detailed Ford Sierra Bodyshell on the TT-01 chassis, or getting a diff chassis for the Sierra shell to fit on.

I have noticed the kamtec Sierra shell online, but Im looking for something with a bit more detail, I want to say the one I got back in the day was made by 'Parmalatt' or something like that. The detail for the late 80s from what I remember was pretty good.

Any help would be appreciated, cheers

Yes, I noticed that (Kyosho sierra) here @ TC in the picture gallery, looked all over ebay for a used Kyosho Sierra body, could not find one, they seem to be rarer than hens teeth, and pricey too from what Ive read. Also, to throw something else in the mix, does anyone also know of a decal / vinyl decal manufacturer that makes accurate racing decals for a Sierra, I would like to make a Sierra with either New texaco logos, or Peter Jackson logos or maybe Mobil Logos to do a Peter Brock Sierra.?

thanks

Try this Guy. http://members.optusnet.com.au/pattosplace/home.html I have bought from him but not the peel and stick. If you get a Sierra body you should do a **** [ this is not a swear word] Johnson Shell Sierra.

I was gonna inquire about an Sierra body shell too..

If any one happens to stumble across a few..

You have a buyer for 1 or 2 here.

As for the artwork to be applied,

I never was a Brock fan,

I preferred Richard Johnson myself.

The Sierra Cosworth Rs500 is still one of my dream cars.

Of course an Escort Cosworth Rs would have to sit right beside it in the garage

Aahhhh yes, Pattos place, I wonder if his 1/10 scale decals are waterslide or vinyl, I'd assume they are Waterslide. If thats the case I am not too impressed with his quality, I have had experience with his waterslide decals, they are 'OK'

@ Willy, 1/32nd scale :D

He has peel and stick Vinyl but I have not used it. I did buy waterslide from him and the overall quality wasn't too bad but there was a few little defects. I did have to coat them in an acrylic clear and did not have a problem applying them. See Below

The RS500 shell by Kyosho is not very good I am afraid. I have looked once or twice at getting one to make a model replica of an RS500, but it just doesn't cut it. There are three issues:

- The shell was designed to fit a buggy chassis (in the case of the RS500, it was a 'road' version of the Raider chassis). It is therefore far too wide and looks stupid. In fact it's the opposite of the Tamiya Escort Cosworth shell which is too narrow and consequently also looks stupid, but the detail and quality of decals go some way to make up for it on the Tamiya shell.

- If you are used to and are expecting Tamiya levels of detail, you will be very disappointed. The shell is quite bland.

- The supplied 'Texaco' decalling, designed to replicate the works Eggenberger cars is not at all faithful to the original cars. It's the wrong colour, the wrong fonts and only a few of the correct decals are available. It's a pretty apalling job.

I would dearly love a good RS500 shell to do justice and stay faithful to the original car, but the Kyosho one is (in my very humble opinion as the owner of a real RS500 Sierra) very poor...! Really a shame. That said, there was one guy on here who painted one a different colour and didn't use the rubbish decals. It looked OK...!

I want to say the one I got back in the day was made by 'Parmalatt' or something like that.

Parmalat is an Italian dairy products company :D Perhaps you mean Parma...? (no, not the ham) :P I don't know if Parma made one TBH...

Wireless is right

I have a mint kyosho RS500 and its all out of proportion. It's also closer to 1/8th scale due to being fitted to the raider chassy. Parmalat I think was the sponsor decals on the Parma shell although I have vaugue memories of schumacher doing one too on there club 10 range but in both cases both these shells are poorly proportioned too.

so does anyone have any experience with the kamtec body thats currently available, its sad, you'd think in 2008 there would be plenty of good quality shells around for this classic car :P

I have a Kamtec Sierra on my mini and it's a fun challenge to paint it. No rear light details or side window details at all, design them however you like. Two recesses in the front define the headlights, but again no actual lines on there. And of course it's Mardave size, so really 5mm too short for a mini chassis. That was the Sapphire Cosworth, made for Schumacher by Parma. You think the Kyosho one is badly proportioned :P

Totally agree about it being sad that there is no quality Sierra Shell. Although the comment on the escort cossy shell I dont agree with, the tamiya one's width is much more scale than the weird wide parma / koysho ones

The Tamiya Escort is about as overly-stretched in length as the Kyosho one is in width. The Tamiya is a much better shell though. The Parma / Schumacher ones are hideous...!:P

well, the kamtec to me looks okay, I see on ebay auctions, window masks are now included, still the lack of detail on the body, as well as the rear wing proportions and the rear of the car just dont look right, no matter how good the decals, paint job was, it would still be distracting. I wish I had never let that Parma Sierra body go, I want to have a 1/10 sierra and 1/10 BMW M3 e30 side by side on my shelf. Shame Tamiya does not make a Sierra body, it would be awesome, just like the e30 bimmer.

Nice looking Falcon Two Door body..

Where did you get it?

It is actually a 1/24th Diecast car by Models56. I was just demonstrating the decals from Patto's.
