Wasnt sure how to say thanks, though knowing the enjoyment i will get should be enough for you guys! so though id put a thred on and a couple of pics and the spec!

Johnny's Twin Det:

Super E-Truck Esc.

Ford F-350 shell.

Adjustable upper arm's.

Axial Rock Lizard tyres.

Steal Ball Bearings all round.

20 Tooth Pinions.

Hope u like the shell too! the front/rear skirts are a little lower than the norm, Modded the lights(cos thought they were a little sucky) removed the flames(why tamiya put them on?????thats anyones guess) and filled in the gap in the front grill (2 stickers to one grill wasnt doing it for me).

Well there it is, hope u like the truck and the thread!:unsure::)

Looking good John...looking really good. So, how does those motor perform? Give us some feedback.

Btw, what is your steering servo? Also, just change the moldex connector and it is perfect!

Posted

Looks very nice!!!! IMO it would perform better if it had Maxx shocks (4", along with the towers), you'll get about 2" (it least) of travel per wheel rather than only about 1".

Not had it outside yet, Ran half a battery pack through it earlier to get brush and com to match, battery is now re charged and tomorrow the trucks gettin a thrashing! i may get round to some 4" shocks for crawling but for thrashing im gonna stick with these for now,

The servo is a acoms as11, may have to upgrade to a high torque after tomorrow, ill see how she goes!

Next few mods will be Beadlock wheels, then im gonna fire some blue alloy at it from a long distance with a 'BIG' catapult for that bling effect

i always use deans.

loads on ebay

nice truck.like the body and colour.

just got my beadlocks.will post some pics in my dual hunter thread.

Well, decision made on connectors, gonna stick with tamiya: 1 cos im lazy, 2 cos ill have to change on chargers, 3 any other batts / chargers i get will probably be tamiya plugs!

Thanks for advice anyhow,

Got some beadlocks coming in the post, anyone know any cheep 2.2 tyres that will fit! think the spikes on the oe tyres r a tad cheesey B)

Also does anyone have for sale a body shell, twin det, blackfoot truck type!

More pics to come in about two week or so!

Mate looking good, I just bought one a week ago, put a super E-truck in, changed the ball races, 3900mAh battery, waiting for the motors. Can I ask where you got the alloy knuckles from and how much they were? Also, why do people put such expensive motors in their trucks when you can get 2 ansmann 15turn motors for 11? I am confused... I hope they will work with the truck, but if they don't it's only a few quid...

Posted

Like adam says, they are plentiful on ebay, for generic parts(knuckles, c hubs), buy the tl01parts( as they are a few quid cheaper) and same component!

Motors: Like anything else in this world u get what u pay for, tamiya motors may not be the fastest in the world but bet u cant show me an equivelant motor (rpm/torque) with as good a run time, they just seem to be a solid efficient motor,

The ansmanns will be fine but u cant tune/replace components as easy! ;( but they are great for bashing! also to replace one is cheaper than brushes and a skim :P

That's my point...put them in today, and they work fine. If they break, I buy another for 5, bargain!! I think I would get too confused with all the timing stuff u guys are on about...it runs like a dream!!

I give u another month, and youl be so into r/c cars you will have upgraded 50% of your truck!!!

Understanding timing and mechanics of motors is easy once u get the gist! the further in the rotational direction the end bell is turned the more speed u get, less turn = more power, stronger magnets = more speed and/or power! Bushes and com: better connection = more electricity which = stronger magnet which = (u should have the gist) if not, do a little research, it will pay off in the long run!

Post us some pics PAVSTER!

Its a bug! you just cant help yourself!

Have just started my second car! got it for freemans of my brother, its a little battered and no shell but soon, and it will come alive!

Its a tl01 but that thread is for another forum! (postings in general)

Just got these off the bay for the Det, front and rears 12 pounds posted from Australia!!!!

Well actually I started with Tamiyas a very long time ago, and I had a fire dragon and a Subaru. I found the Subaru really boring cos it could only be driven on the track. The Twin Det however is awesome, and yeah I might change more on the car, but only when it breaks, I paid enough money for the stock parts and I will get my moneys worth!! Apart from the motors...and bearings...and esc...

Will take some pics in the next few days.
