That's Cadzilla, built for ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons.

And it's okay that you don't like American stuff - I don't like English, um..... wait, I'll think of something.... Jaguars, nope, I like them... um... Oasis... no, this is hard... Strongbow cider... Aw nuts. I was born on the wrong side of the pond.

RIP Mr Hotrod. :D

He was an unnaturally talented designer, from what I saw on the American Hotrod series, he was kinda indecisive & a lousy people manager at times, but his creations put him head & shoulders above most others.

I read one quote describing him as a modern day George Barris, a fitting & worthy epithet IMHO.

A sad day for the hotrodding world.

That's a real shame, he had a great career. He was friends with Gil "Pop" Losi of Team Losi. I read in RC Car Action that Boyd Coddington did a show with Gil Losi and he and his hot rod team raced Mini-Ts around his garage's parking lot. Coddington played dirty, though; one of Losi's pro drivers was the actually driving his Mini-T :D! So even the r/c world does not go unaffected :).

yea... worst manager you'd want to work for.

If he wasn't so famous, his business would have died years ago (and it did).

Most amazing is him having the ex-wife working there and the new wife coming in regularly,

yet TV cameras never caught any glimpse of warring women.

People skills? he'd have to be a negative on the scale!

Held a grudge against Chip Foose for "leaving him", for how long??!

And Charlie the painter too.... talk about burning bridges.

Foose builds great cars too... talking of which, never seen Boyd actually get his hands dirty on TV. Anyone?

I don't know much except that Chip was his right hand man, like Duane was, a lot of the Boyd cars from the 80's were Chip design. Why Chip left I don't know, but for me I would have a Foose car over a Coddington any day.

I have only once seen Boyd "get his hands dirty" once, he painted a car, as a guest painter because they had nobody else, he kept everybody in the dark about it, something that Duane didn't like, until he walked out of the booth.

Things went sour with Charlie and Mike because they both started young at Coddington, and then went to a competitor, ie Foose.

Any-who, R.I.P.

IIRC, the whole sourpuss thing with Charlie was because he did a weekend job for Chip, hence there was probably the existing grudge againt Chip, which could then be levelled at Charlie too.

Sad yes, but provided the business keeps going it'll be better off without him if what I have heard is to be believed. He allegedly wasn't the most fair or scrupulous man to deal with...

Wow, I am just finding out. Richy, DON"T SELL THOSE MAGAZINES, they could be worth something now. I just want to put my two cents worth in here. No matter who, what, et al had something to do with the building, designing, et al with the Coddington cars, he will be like a famous artist and his signature items will go up in value now that he is gone. It would be as if Mr. Shelby died today(God forbid), ALL HIS MODELS would command a premium as he is another great innovator of cars and designs and the like. If anyone wants to see a bad manager of folks one only has to turn on the duo of Paul and Paul SR and not to forget MIKEY of "American Chopper" fame. I get a laugh out of their dysfunctional family values. And by the way, the reason for the not warring women....one word....EDITING!!! It sickens me at the way all these "Reality" shows don't have a true reality to them from time to time and the editors are forcing this stuff down our throats so we believe it. I am sorry and it is my opinion, but I think the better editing had been done on that "DIRTY JOBS" show where the guy goes around and gets filthy and such for the TV cameras. How he doesn't cuss up a blue streak, I won't know as I would be. B)

Well, it is a good thing I don't have cable or I might spend WAY TOOO Much time watching it. I know I do when I visit the in-laws and that is where I have seen most of these shows in the last year.

RANT OVER!!

nah Coddington is a worse boss than the entire Teutul family combined

how many staff did Boyd's shop lose... vs OCC?

Somehow i don't think the producers would have edited out anything re women fighting,

they'll be taking full advantage of any possible avenue to increase ratings etc etc.

(more like women are probably too smart to argue in front of the cameras)

Besides the OCC guys look like they're having FUN, prepschool type immature fun

but FUN nonetheless. See anyone enjoying themselves like that at Boyd's?

(other than the upholstery family shop ... and Gabe's is not part of Boyd's shop)

Well great, now I have to watch all the British stuff you sent me a link to. I guess I will waste half my day off tomorrow. Like I mentioned before, I don't watch much TV as I am on TC or trying to build and trying to make sense of the mess in my garage, so I am just flinging my thoughts about what I might have seen over the last 12-14 months. I agree that the OCC clan seems to have fun and I have caught Chip's show maybe twice and Boyd's show maybe once. I was just using generic reasoning as to what got put on the screen. It isn't just the editors that get to decide what will be on the show, but sometimes the stars too and if Boyd ran his show like he ran his garage, well then you know he watched all the footage and told them what to keep as well.

Thanks for the links, look like fun. I think I enjoyed the Junkyard Wars a few years back when I was staying with my mom and I think it might have been British, so could be some more good TV to watch.

i don't watch much TV but yeah, gotta get some value outta the LCDs sitting there... ;)

Mark Evans is great... you'll probably need a week straight to watch all of his shows.

(He restores/rebuilds a E-type Jag, MGB, Harley & Triumph,

builds a kit plane, a kit car, a race car, chops a Rangie into a Landie...)

got a bit addicted to "The F Word" lately

watched a bit of "Canada's Worst Handyman" recently too

Junkyard Wars was good, haven't seen any new ones lately.

Pimp My Ride was good, bit OTT towards the end.

Overhaulin' is always good.

Rides ... haven't seen many.

AmChopper is usually worth watching.

Fifth Gear... ah well, its Top Gear offseason, so why not.

F1 soon coming back.
