Steering Servo For Twin Detonator

Im need to get a new steering servo for my tamiya twin detonator. Does anyone know where to get one and what would be the best one to get.

Hi Ryan,

This is something i have looked into, My servi is ok at the mo' but ive thought about upgrading, ebay is probably the place to start, dont buy a cheap one!!! bepending on your budget there are a few to choose from, just make sure it is a high torque servo with fast reaction times, and also make sure it is the correct size as there are some larger servos on the market!

i'm in the process of rebuilding an ebay bought dagger,i've got a bluebird hi torque hi speed metal geared servo,got one in my scorpion as well no problems with either so far

I use hitec 645 mg's in my txt-1. They steer that truck great so i'm sure one would work well in the twin detonator.

They are high torque and metal geared. I dont even use servo savers on them as they are pretty tough!

I just picked up a Traxxas Waterproof High Torque pulled fom the new E-Maxx for my Carbon Fiber Detonator:

but also get a good servo saver such as the OFNA heavy duty:

Inexpensive and gets the job done. I use this:

Another budget servo. A little bump on speed and torque, plus metal gears:

The specs of your ESC will also affect servo performance.

I think a good ESC is a must on your shopping list .

Will the front motor need reverse timing, or do those venoms come set at 0 degrees?

You will certainly need an ESC - it's going to be very tricky to drive with the mechanical speed controller, as you'll have to drive it at full speed all the time, or risk the resistor catching fire

The venoms are at 0 degrees from the factory. No tinkering required other than to reverse the positive & negative wires in the front and off you go .

i have now bought a new servo for the car and atlast it steers!!! i took it out yesterday and it was great fun!!!!

its a thunder tiger ssk s1003 i think, it works a treat!!!

Is that the servo for steerig duty of the Thunder Tiger SSK? then it must be hi-torque then. Nice to know your dagger is doing a good upgrade. What will be your next stop?
