I'll have to check (I really hope I am wrong) but I am sure that they stopped the model expo shows a few years ago

yeah the 2006 show was cancelled and there wasn't one in 2007... I am sure that there isn't one in 2008

here is a petition I found to bring it back but I think that the main reason for the show being cancelled was because the NEC were charging too much but I can't be sure.

A petition won't make any difference, in fact I've yet to see any petition make a difference.

The reason he show was cancelled was because the NEC was taken over by new owners. The Model Expo was supported by the previous owners, but the NEC lost money on the event. I presume they were looking at the long term investment, taking a loss now to make a profit when it was established and much bigger. The new owners looked at the accounts and cancelled anything that didn't make them any profit, which included the Model Expo, to replace with anything that made them money.

The only way it will return is if someone with a lot of money hires the NEC exhibition halls and organises it themselves, although I would be pleased to be proved wrong in this instance. ;)

I dunno.... The "Mysterious Cities Of Gold" and the exteneded cut of "Blade Runner" have all *FINALLY* made it to DVD this past few months and there were big online petitions behind them. Mind you, for Blade Runner it was an Anniversary and for MCoG, I guess it was inevitable.

Back on topic - I too was just looking for information on this year's Model Expo. Alas, you're right: It was cancelled after 2005. It's a shame there's not a similar Model Show somewhere else...

Mind you though, a lot of shows are making the move from Birmingham's NEC down to London and the new Docklands area (The British Motor Show being a recent and prime example) so maybe there's hope yet?
