For me there are def. too much Kyosho cars published on Tamiyaclub and it is still increasing. What are you thinking? Clustering the start page full with Kyosho kits I dont like. Hmmm...

although it is tamiyaclub that doesn't mean its strictly for tamiya, i personally enjoy seeing other brands as it widens my interest for r/c cars

I think Tamiya Club is a good home for all Old/ interesting R/C. Just 'cos you don't like them doesn't make it wrong, just look at all the stuff you love!

That came out wrong. Ahh I can't think how to phrase it nicely.... <_<

For example I don't like R/C tanks that much, but it's the vareity that makes this place great. And interesting!

Thats true but I think this website is for real Tamiya enthusiasts and not for Kyosho. A few members dont respect that. There are plenty of other sites you can have a potpourri of RC cars.

I love tamiya just as much as the next guy but i put pics of my boats on here and none of them are tamiya. I think as tamiyaclub as a place where I can share my interests with with people who like the same sort as thing as me. Thats what is so good about this site we are all attracteed here by Tamiya but all enjoy different aspects of the R/C hobby.

A slightly short sighted view in my opinion. The main stay of this sight as anyone can see is Tamiya, but its also a great resource of info for a huge collection of other RC vehicles. To the point that I never really gave vintage Kyoshos a second glance, until I saw some of the beautiful examples owned by fellow TC members. And its nice to see otherwise I would have passed them by none the wiser.

As for too many Kyoshos being published, surely you, yourself, are in control of what you look at on here apart from whats on the homepage and thats not too bad is it??????? Just sit back and enjoy the site, its certainly one of the best on the net for RC vehicles both new and vintage.

Ok, new rule: No Kyosho cars allowed. <_< Please forward your complaints to macmeniac. He will be happy to assist you.

Should we laugh now? - Was that my intention?

You will find that the start of TC was inspired by VINTAGE R/C, in particular Tamiya, models. That has evolved slightly over time but a look at showrooms and the forum still demonstrates this.

Despite Kyosho being 'the enemy':)<_< they have some very interesting and important r/c models, so there is a natural overlap and if you do not enjoy looking at them, you don't have to - there is significantly more non Kyosho content to look at at any time.

One other point - if other brands were excluded then members would have to further split their time between TC and other sites, the more that were to happen the less activity there would be on TC and its forum. A duller forum would start a never ending downward spiral of people drifting away

And none of us wants that!

Well... although I prefer most tamiya's opposing to other RC cars, I think there are definetely very interesting cars between them... And many of us are not only Tamiya-minded... I was hesitating to buy a HPI electro for some time, but I didn't because I got interested in vintage stuff... And then I chose tamiya... once again... <_<

Easy solution

Go to your showroom homepage, click 'edit your details'

Halfway down the edit page is a set of filters, where you can choose what to see on the homepage

Simply check the Kyosho box and you won't see any more

Actually, I love seeing the vintage Kyosho stuff. It's under-represented in general, and because they had a wider range of subject matter, I still get surprised once in a while by vehicles I see, unlike Tamiya where I have the kit numbers memorized and have at least seen photos of all of them. When you favor a brand of something, the other brands sometimes hold a mystique that your favorite has lost. A Blackfoot is very familiar, and therefore cool in a coming-home sort of way, but an Ultima-chassis Porsche is strange, exotic, and appealing in a whole different way.

Put another way, you'll never get me to give up my Fender guitar, but that doesn't mean I won't drool over a nice tiger-top Les Paul.

serious question guys, how many of you have been influenced by kyosho when you have designed/built fitted bits onto your tamiyas and vice versa?could this realistically happen withouth other brands being posted about on here?oh and markbt73 les pauls definately arent all there cracked up to be,save your saliva and stick with the fenders

Just to be understood right. I dont speak of an exclusion or forbidding the brand Kyosho on TC! I only complaint that there are too much of them on TC - IMHO

I think it is the name of the club that is wrong, rather than the content, if you get what I mean? I prefer Tamiya, but am interested in the others too. We can't change the name of the club now, but the interest is in all aspects of vintage radio control. I have always preferred form over function. I am not sure that is a bad thing. After all, Cindy Crawford looks good on my wall (you can tell I am an eighties kid) but I wouldn't want her fixing my sink. Tamiya are first and foremost a scale model company. Then they made RC models and it is in this sphere that I enjoy them the most. Not because their models are the best technically, but because of the looks. Especially the old ones, no one can hold a candle to a Styrene Tamiya early body. Nobody :-) You mean they work too? Mister can I have a go.... Then the dream ended! The people in the park rarely let you drive one. Now I can fill up my house with them (my wife tells me big parcels are not the only thing that will fit through the front door though, so better be careful)

In fact, I was in a quandary when I was 10 or 11. The shop owner and my father both wanted me to buy the Kyosho Rocky. I wanted the Boomerang (closest to the Hotshot within my price range and availability) and I bought the Boomerang. I will never forget it cost 180 in Milton Keynes from a tiny shop somewhere under a concrete bridge or something. It included the whole shooting match (I believe the word 'deal' is used) I clutched it carefully, built it on Christmas day and....

..burnt the resistor. But then I had another resistor and never looked back. Happy days :-) I now have a few Rocky's too, just to remind me what I was missing.

As it turns out the blowhards (OK, I am a blowhard too) who were all telling me the Rocky was better were wrong. It wasn't/isn't. Technically, on paper it should be. It is not quite such 'barndoor' engineering as the Boomerang. But Stick a stock Boomerang next to a stock Rocky and the Boomerang will win. I know this now!

Paul.

Many of my childhood memories involve classic Tamiya & Kyosho vehicles. Although it is Tamiyaclub some of the earlier Kyosho vehicles are just as special. I pay for the club and have also included a few Kyosho models in my showroom. Personally, I enjoy the variety of models the club presents  .

was just looking around and found one of the coolest looking kyosho's  , it's a sandskipper ( owned by shodog ) and although weird, it looks awsome

I too don`t see a problem with other makes in peoples showrooms. I have never owned anything made by Kyosho, but that doesnt stop me looking at the different models. I own a couple of Yokomo`s and Graupner models too and I love to see Yokomo`s here as I am a big fan of theirs. And its always nice to see boats here as well!

As Terry.sc has said many times, this was started as a vintage rc site, the other vintage makes and models have more place here than say a DT-02 or a Durga.

plenty of Kyoshos and Schumachers etc etc...

How's this for a deal... when the Kyoshos add up to critical mass, we'll hive them off to a new mirror club of their own ok? ....

Maybe you could persuade Chris to reigster www.kyoshoclub.com

maaate, he's already cybersquatting it B)

Tamiya was the originally intended target for the site (else it would have been vintagercclub.com, surely...?). These things grow, evolve and digress into other areas naturally. I for one am happy to see Kyoshos, Maruis, Schumachers, Losis, Associateds, Yokomos, Mugens, Nichimos, Hirobos and other wierd and wonderful stuff on here. It gives me a greater appreciation for manufacturers and models that I previously knew little or nothing about.

One thing I would like to see is several additions to the "Other makes" area in the forum. Seems a great shame that it's only got Kyosho, Marui and Nikko in there or whatever. They are other makes that are just as worthy , if not moreso, of a section to themselves. I can see these were put in place originally as a bit of an experiment. I would suggest we either go to a single "Other Makes" section and get rid of Kyosho, Marui and Nikko altogether, or expand it considerably to include other makes. Surely this is fair...? Incidentally, I believe the latter is by far the better option...
